My FPL DSL keeps dropping out, I assume it has something to do with the network problems. Hopefully it will be fixed by tonight's work.

It was back to normal on 16:04 PDT.
Same here. Calgary. This time ping was dead and webserver was 503 too. It could been a server reboot.

With the core network outage sustained yesterday, we noticed some "hiccups" for a portion of the day. We have since made some other alterations and this should no longer be occuring at this time.

Yes my wife was also having some minor hiccups on September 06 2012 around the same time but (eastern time zone) Quebec and as she described it to be sounding like a robotic voice cutting in and out while she was speaking with the other party on the phone. At first I thought it was my modem/router/ATA over heating.

In the end, fongo and clearpointel are 99.9% stable and far more superior in pricing in comparison to other local Canadian voip providers and I just want to say I have been with these guys for a few years now, fantasic services keep up the great work!

Hi Funkytown,

Thank you for that comment. Unfortunately, we only tend to hear when people are upset with the service, we do nto always get to hear form people who are happy on a day to day basis :)

Ohhhh, you are right, I will add that I am very more than happy! I love the service and push it to as many people as I can. Yes it may of had hicups, but they're at 3am and well, that doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's probably been 15+ years since I've had the need to use a phone at that hour. :)

Positive feedback is always nice. I too am generally pleased with Fongo, but there is room for improvement. And the seeming (note!) lack of attention in getting known issues resolved does tend to jade one about the service, to the point of overlooking the positives.

Moving to Fongo has three stages

1. honeymoon: where people are so happy with cost savings
2. 3mo-24mo: honeymoon is over, some people complain, some accept, some drop out and go elsewhere
3. long term perception: this is generally a happy crowd: all those unhappy ones have moved on or accepted

I am in stage 2, and I get constantly asked about VOIP options. March 18th, all-day outage is easy for me to explain and assure others but I cannot sell these mini outages. As a result, I am not as inclined to recommend service, if someone asked me today.

In couple of months, my recommendation could be dramatically different. If you keep it up for two months, I think I can sell it to others again.

I think the thing that kills all our spirits is the consistent INCONSISTENCY. For me, the big "sticking point" is that the seemingly small fixes (FPL malfunctioning CID, java hangs; DV java issues/keypad) that are completely ignored and not dealt with in a timely fashion ...

Honestly Fongo -- when you know a serious problem exists, FIX it ...

In the early VoIP days I used primus VOIP in the way beginning when i was first introduced to Voip and long distance saving over B=HELL. I used Primus for 3 years until I realized I was paying way to much monthly.

Then I came to Clearpointel sister/brother company of Fongo. I have been using Clearpointel Voip service for well over 4 years now. I switched paying approx 40$ monthly and payed 50$ one time for Clearpointel VOIP service and saved $3,500 up to today.

I personally think that's a huge bargain and better all the way around if you decide to compare all factors. Also Clearpointel VOIP has only had very small outages hear and there over the last few years which is normal... speaking from a technical stand point compared to my internet or hydro which has gone off way longer. Every company that i know of big and small has there own outages or network issues yearly. :D

Yeah I understand your not that thrilled yet about being convinced with Fongo, but given that you only paid $50 one time fee rather then paying monthly for some other Voip phone service and overall it defiantly adds up over the years in the hundreds or like me in the thousands especially paying a monthly contract. I really don't think we should be making a huge deal about this.

Fongo Voip phone service works 99.9% of the time (just like all other companies) and not to mention we have all saved more money so what more can we ask for?

Hence the reason why I'm still here with Clearpointel aka fongo Voip.

Cheers

I will keep this short and sweet. If someone asked me about VOIP options today, Fongo is one of options but it is not the top pick. I did not say it is a poor value, unusable, or anything like that. I said it is not the top pick.

Guess which provider has failed registration as I'm writing this.

With the failed registration, have you done any trouble shooting? Verified configuration? Confirmed the phone works on all other similar providers without any issues?

I'm going to lock off this thread - it's starting to turn into a collective thread for reporting problems that likely don't have any relation to the original issue which was the downtime overnight a couple weeks ago. Let's start new threads if anyone is having specific issues and the community/Fongo staff can assist on a case-by-case basis.
