I understand your frustration. I've been using FPL since '09 and to be honest with you I have been very pleased with this free service. Granted there have been problems in the past and will continue to be in the future, but all in all as far as a free phone service goes I'm not complaining about a minor inconvienence.
Cheer up everyone, it will be fixed in no time just be patient and give the engineers some time to work on what ever your problem your experiencing.
I live in Montreal (514) 447 I can make calls and receive them as we speak. Date: Wednesday Jan 16, 5:45pm
you know what for people like me who just paid $75 plus to get a sip unlock key and port this service doesnt seem free.... and Ive been with them for only a week and already its down..
Considering they point you to this forum is it really that much to ask that they Post a notification of the outage with the details of the problem and an ETR???
it's 2013 , forum , facebook, twitter, fax, telephone , email etc.... there is really no excuse not to communicate. and dont forget they make money from advertisers... this is very much a for profit company.. theyre not a charity by any means.
Come on FPL ! get some better communication

I'm 100% in the same boat as you. Luckily she has a cell phone as a backup system, but it's such a pain dealing with all these issues.rooster wrote:What's with FPL lately? I have just ported my parent over and they are complaining. I'm just about to convert another one over but with these problem FPL is having... I'm giving it a second thought. Re: Freephoneline Down
It's working now. Wow the resolution of the outage is waaaaayyyyyyy better than the recent DNS outage of Rogers in Southern Ontario considering that Rogers is a much bigger multi-billion company.

back to square one, now seems that FPL has made some changes, the incoming calls are going to voice mail or falling back to cell phone.

Re: Freephoneline Down
So true...in Burlington, Ontario...you can call out to anyone else that is not on Freephone line system. If you do call a Freephoneline number, it immediately goes into Voice Mail.
Fix is maybe 1/2 way there!

Having just paid the sip fee last week I'm glad I still have shaw to go back to during this outage. Are these outages common? I also have not been able to contact anyone to port my number. I'm guessing that is explained by the CSR Joplin opportunity posting.

Ditto outgoing is good... incoming is kaput.
Hopefully they fix all this and give us some info about what happened, hopefully this work being done is so we don't have further interruptions.

Okay, i usually don't get involved in these, but i feel the need to reply.k2366 wrote: you know what for people like me who just paid $75 and Ive been with them for only a week and already its down..
1. Yes, Freephoneline was having technical problems for many of you, I'm sorry to hear about this but that's only due to the fact realizing that every company has it's problems/glitches/bugs/outages etc... beleive me i have seen much worse elsewhere - however, when you compare what we already paid for and what we have for FREE UNLIMTTED for life and the down time which is what? (once in a blue moon) - we should be much more understanding and patiant especially when we never have to worry about ever getting ripped off by those BIG CANADIAN TELECOM companies!
2. Trust me your 75$ will be back in your pocket as savings by March 2013 when comparing with other BIG CANADIAN TELECOM companies who over charge 40$ ea. month for 1 phone line and limited services NOT including long distance.
3. I'm a regular visitor/member to freephoneline, and i know for a fact the problems havn't always been for to long - thats what I'm referring to as 99% reliable UPTIME for our Unlimtted FREE Voip phone service.

Re: Freephoneline Down
It's a just a bad first impression. I hear all the good reviews, and the problem over Christmas... So i decided to test it out... I only have paid for $50 for the config file. So far, testing the service but haven't cancelled my SHAW... Glad to have still had it tonight.Funkytown wrote:Okay, i usually don't get involved in these, but i feel the need to reply.k2366 wrote: you know what for people like me who just paid $75 and Ive been with them for only a week and already its down..

I do appreciate the perspective Funkytown, I just hope this past month is not indicative of the future. I'm a little concerned though, as the same time that they have started to have problems, they have no one on staff to take porting orders, and have eliminated their phone support. Sounds indicative of a company going through some resrtructuring..

I completely understand your frustration & situation but in today's modern life when it comes to 75% of us or more who use technology in everyday life, we will continue to face those frustrations. Nobody can completely eliminate the hiccups in today's technology, but all I was trying to do here in this thread was find truthful ways to put a positive outlook on all of this negativity. Good night to you and everyone else it's 4:44am.

PS: Also I'm glad to see that your Voip services are back running smoothly now!
Thank You!

Re: Freephoneline Down
I know what you said a phone company and no phone support kinda funny
Last night it was down for a few hours but DV was working fine. FPL is up and running normal now.
They should keep phone support for people who has problem and port to FPL. Anyway, I hope end of this month will be back to normal like before

Re: Freephoneline Down
+1 to Funkytown.
It's a free service boys & girls. 99% uptime (at the very least) is well worth way more than the ZERO we pay now.
The cost of the ATA isn't even an issue. If you choose to go somewhere else (and pay a monthly fee) then you can take it with you.
The cost of the config file is your only out of pocket expense. Money well spent and recouped within a month or two of service.
Thanks to FPL, Fongo, or whatever else they choose to call themselves. I'm a happy customer for as long as this ride lasts.
If it ends tomorrow, I'll be disappointed, but FPL owes me nothing.
