Re: Caller ID
Yes I would agree.
My CID block would not work previously, I spent many hours trying all sorts of variations and it would never work.
Then all of a sudden it started working and I didn't change anything on my end.
So yes I would definitely agree with you that it's not something that you can change....

Re: Caller ID
Some routing has changed at our end which will affect this. I'm still waiting for the official word of whether or not this will be a supported feature again.brentw wrote:Yes I would agree.

Re: Caller ID
Ok, I would sure hope that it is not taken away again from people that have confirmed their address and info for e911 etc.
I find being able to block my number very useful, for me it helps avoid getting my number on legit and non-legit telemarketer lists etc.

Re: Caller ID
I see this fell off the FPL Announcements and is no longer a Sticky. Does this mean FPL won't be supporting this feature anytime in the near future? I guess the problem of dropped calls most people are experiencing does need to get addressed first.

Re: Caller ID
This is still being looked into, our technical team is just waiting for an official "yes or not" back from the executives that make the feature decisions.MikeD wrote:I see this fell off the FPL Announcements and is no longer a Sticky. We did some forum updates today and changed a few things around, in the process a few older announcements were filed in their appropriate categories to keep the announcement panel clean.

Re: Caller ID F/ 911
FYI, doesn't matter WHERE you live, even if you CALL BLOCK your phone and call 911, their phone system can still UNBLOCK your number and see who is calling. *67, *82, etc., all completely USELESS if you try to dial 911 with it. Simply WON'T WORK!!!! They can still see you!!!

Re: Caller ID
I see over on this locked thread which I cannot reply to or directly quote:
http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic ... 7317#p7317
in particular where admin wrote: "Just look how all of the sudden our CID Block started to function as it should."
CID Block is not working for me - is it working for anyone else? Has it officially been added back as a valid feature?
It hasn't been working for quite some time now and I am curious as to if FPL has a timeline for its return.

Re: Caller ID
We haven't officially added it, but a few of our trunks were changed recently which did allow it to start functioning on some as a side affect. Admin shouldn't have commented using the wording he didMikeD wrote:I see over on this locked thread which I cannot reply to or directly quote:

I'm still waiting on an official yes or no as to whether it will be back officially. There's a few really big things on the plate here right now and getting the time to chat with the higher ups can be difficult! You'll all see why very soon

Caller ID Block Working Again
I can confirm that my CID block is working today. Both *67 and *81 work as per call blocking ... so 911 identification should no longer be an issue and the CID block should remain a permanently supported feature - wishful thinking???

Re: Caller ID
It seems to be working for me in some fashion or another - sometimes the phone I am calling to displays "blocked", other times "unknown", and sometimes it displays an erroneous number which if dialed seems to go nowhere.

Thank you,

This is on our to-do list in regards to looking into it, however fixing this relies on a few more things first.Funkytown wrote:Im waiting to have my Call Privacy back FPL, can we please have it back
May I ask if you called the PSAP Info line directly or Northern Communications, as they are quite different.Funkytown wrote: FYI 911 will unblock the number regardless, I have just got off the phone with them here in Montreal for confirmation.

I called 911 and it automatically directed me to a PSAP and from there (they had my address automatically) and the fact that it was an emergency call from the (area code) I dialed from, they transfered me with in 5 seconds to Quebec 911 and they had all my information ready at handAdmin wrote: May I ask if you called the PSAP Info line directly or Northern Communications, as they are quite different.

Update: Another test today to 911 and I was transfered with in seconds of the call to 911 here in Quebec, told them it was a 2nd test ONLY, they had my address on hand ready to dispatch!
PS: Has anyone else tested 911 from FPL phone number

Re: Caller ID
I think FPL should put back the option for those like myself that want our Caller ID blocked and ONLY when dialing 911 Caller ID should automatically be enabled by default threw the FPL sip trunk settings.

Re: Caller ID
Funkytown,
I understand you'd like to test everything out - However may I remind you I get an email every time someone dials 911 and no-one is dispatched as do I get a daily report, and following up on erroneous test-dials is very time consuming... That and I've gotten some angry calls from NorthernResponse warning me about this, as all test calls must be scheduled.
Another thing, PSAP's unblock CID, yes. However CID on POTS is much different than SIP.

How would I go on about making a 911-friendly test call? I really do want to test it, especially for my kids as that's the FIRST thing they're told about phone and emergencies.admin wrote:... and I've gotten some angry calls from NorthernResponse warning me about this, as all test calls must be scheduled.
Can I know which call center ought to receive my 911 call, and then call them on their regular business number and diligently request to schedule a test with them?
