Keeping Existing Number after Porting and Changing Numbers

Not that I want to do it in any way or for any reason but I want to know the answer:

For a FPL account with a configuration file, would it be possible to port it out?

1) no - once you buy the config, your existing FPL number can be used with an ATA. When you port your number over to FPL, you will have a SLIGHT downtime as your username changes to your new number - change that and you're set.
2) I think my port took 3 weeks to complete from sending in the form to when it was actually ported.

You will likely have to clear your browser history or use another browser to avoid that message. Additionally, you will have to use an alternate email address and follow the same activation procedure as your original signup.

You would probably have to call into them to arrange all this. Pick a number from this page ( http://www.freephoneline.ca/contactUs ) and speak to one of their customer support people. They will be able to give you the right information.

You are correct - if you are keeping your cable internet then no changes need to be made to your current internet once your Rogers Home Phone is cancelled.

I did this for a friend and was very easy. I just removed the Rogers telephone modem and put a PAP2T in it's place and plugged in the same wires. This wired up his whole house just as it was with the Rogers box.

When you port the number in the way I would do it to make it is easy as possible is to get an ATA and get it running with a FPL number, and put it along side the Rogers box with a walkabout phone plugged in. This will effectively give you two lines for a while. Then on the day of your porting keep calling your Rogers number and see which phone rings. When you walkabout phone rings you will know your number has been ported and then swap over the patch line that goes to your wall socket (or whatever other wire Rogers is connecting to your home sockets with) and you should be good to go. Pack up the Rogers box and smile as you give it back to the guy behind the counter knowing you don''t have to pay for your phone line anymore.

As part of the porting process, I need to set up a phone number with freephoneline to port to. However I was only able to get as far as step 3 of the registration. I entered my phone number and pressed the "Call Me Now" to receive my Confirmation Code, however I did not receive the call, I had even tried two different cell phone numbers as well as my home number but did not receive a call to either.

Is there a problem with this feature?

I read now and again about this happening. I think sometimes the system does not always work. I would give their tech support a quick call http://www.freephoneline.ca/contactUs I find them are pretty helpful and usually get my problems fixed like today when I had to call about my daughters DSL not working. I was actually surprised they were working on a holiday, but within 20 minutes she was all working again.
