Best ATA adapter with FPL

Postby BossHog » 05/13/2014

Have been using Linksys SPA 1001 with FPL for home phone line, having issues with no dial tone sometimes, no incoming calls, have done call forwarding, forwarded number gets the call about 70% of all calls. Checked settings, port forwarding done on router. So wondering if I have to use a differnt ATA, so any suggestions for a adapter that works well with FPL?

Not a huge fan of the Linksys SPA 1001 because the firmware is so old, and it is not really supported by Cisco anymore. But it is still a competent ATA.

I think your real problem is with your router, your modem, or your service provider. Rogers is unbelievably SIP VOIP unfriendly. They will go though the trouble of buying modems that will not work with VOIP gear. they are that nasty.

What do you have for a modem and a router. Will see what we can do with what you got.

I personnaly use the Gigaset A580IP and C610IP. I know this is not an ATA, so it doesn't really respond to the question. But I was feeling that buying a phone that would connect directly to the VOIP would offer a better experience and less problems. It actually works really well, the base is wired with the router, and the quality is so good you can't say it's VOIP. But as bridonca said, problems can come from a lot of different things.
