I recently purchased this item off of ebay:
Skype USB Phone Telephone Internet Handset For PC VoIP
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 4825881024
(forgive the commercial link, I'm not selling anything, I purchased this)
It costs only $9 (with shipping), and well working and sturdy product, much cheaper than an ATA.
It is designed to integrate with existing softphone software, rather than acting as an ATA that needs to be configured with "secret" data.
I found that this device works wonderfully:
* there is zero echo back to the other end
* their voice comes out loud and clear (even at 1/3 volume)
* it integrates wonderfully with skype
X drawback is I had to unplug it to play a movie or the sound would come out of the phone only.
They advertise that it can be used with other VOIP applications in the installation CD, but no mention of fpl.
Has anyone tried to configure this type of device, and if this works, to give us some guidance as to configuration with fpl's softphone app?
Skype/VOIP USB handset: use with FPL, how to config?

Re: Skype/VOIP USB handset: use with FPL, how to config?
FYI, as long as you use the softphone's dialpad, it works fine.
For an incoming call, I just hit enter as the answer window comes into the foreground (if screensaver is on).
But the software obviously doesnt interface with the fpl softphone.
It DOES however, have configuration possible for all the other similar services, as can be seen in it's menu. Maybe one of them is similar enough that it's settings can be used, but I wouldn't know.
