softphone can call, but other side won't hear a sound

Post by flyingking »

the softphone seems always like this. When I dial out, the receiver will not hear a sound, only hear rings. The softphone will only work for both sides if I can hear the softphone also rings from my side, but it nows just dial out without rings sound from my side.

I am really tired of this! I checked window firewall allow freephoneline and there is no antivirus. I use windows 7.

What service do you have for Internet? Wireless or DSL? Who is the provider. Has softphone ever worked properly for you?

i found it only works 1 time after installation. So now I have to uninstall freephoneline and reinstall and it will work for only the first time. After that it will not work, it will have the problem as described.

Do you happen to have more than one network interface active on the computer? If so, disable either one and restart the softphone again.

If all else fails, you can always try to use netfilter's SIP ALG (ip_nat_sip) to do the port forwarding dynamically instead of statically defining it in your NAT Port Forwarding tables.

hi, can someone pls help me out.

I am using Windows 7, Norton Antivirus and D-link DIR 655 wireless router and my internet provider is Rogers
I have set up forwarding port on my D-link to UDP ports 13000, 13001, 5060, 5061, 6060 and 6061
I have also set up to allow port 13000 on my Norton Antivirus also tried to disable firewall and the antivirus
The FPL softphone initially worked for me using my netbooks internal speaker and mic however, it does not work when
I attached a usb Plantronics headset with mic....i can make calls and hear the person on the other end but,
they cannot hear me speak. Does anyone have a step by step instructions on how to resolve this issue for me.
Note: I have also un-installed and stalled the FPL softphone and it still does not work.... i did the test and this is the message that i am getting "unable to receive sound data! Port 13000 should be available"

newbie2011, I hate to jump to conclusions, but I suspect Norton Antivirus is the culprit. Rogers is also known dislike VOIP services and may be another contributing factor.

Alternately, make sure you have all the drivers for the USB headset installed and test again using your netbooks' internal speakers to make sure my above statements apply.

The D-link DIR 655 has known issues with SIP VOIP. There is a more recent firmware that is supposed to address that issue.
