Long distance calls not completing

Post by uoft23 »

I can call local and 1800 #'s successfully but when I dial 506 and 709 area code it won't ring and the Line goes silent. However on the other end they get the call but only hear silence as well.

My first thought it that you have a NAT issue, where as a fix, you have to manually configure ports to go to your ATA. But the fact you only have 1 way audio on certain numbers has my head scratching. I wonder if it is random. If it is, I would still say it is a NAT issue. If it is consistent, I do not know what your problem is. :(

I have my ATA box put in the DMZ of my router. Doesn't that prevent port issues? I have Vbuzzer voip on the 2nd line of the ATA and it works flawlessly.

I intermittently have had the issue since last fall. 95% of the time there
is no audio on either end. The other 5% it works which has me scratching my
head. I've tried everything in the forums and it just doesn't make sense. Its
not just one number either. Yesterday I was able to call a 250 # at around 5pm
no problem. Then at 11:20 later that evening when I called it again, there was no audio.
The call registers though because the $$ is coming off my long distance voucher. My
ATA works flawlesly for all non long distance calls. All settings are as suggested, 729 codec,
string as per config file, ATA on DMZ, no other traffic on the network, tried with and without
QOS (makes no diff when there is no traffic).

If anyone else has seen this or has any ideas please let me know

I have the same issue recently. I am using FPL for a while and I don't have this problem. In this two weeks, I am having the same problem.
(1) When I call 905 number, it won't ring and the Line goes silent
(2) When I call 604 number, it disconnect itself. I have to try 2, 3 times
(3) When I make the call, sometime, people can hear me and I cannot hear them

I didn't change anything on my router and ATA. I don't have problem in the past. I don't know if it is FPL problem or something else.

For sure, it is not firewall problem. I have another VoIP provider voip.ms. It is working fine too.
