I was wondering what would happen in the following situation.
I live in Saskatoon, SK and I wanted to get one of these numbers to use the voice mail system.
What I wanted to do was use a number from here and set my cell phone to forward calls if I don't answer the phone.
I have to pay an extra $10 a month to get voice mail on my phone with SaskTel. (Rip Off)
But since there are no Sask numbers available. If I forward an incoming call to a number that is in a different area code is someone going to get charged long distance?
Thanks
Long Distance Charges??

Re: Long Distance Charges??
If you forward your SaskTel number to a number not in your local exchange, it is unlikely that you would be charged long distance for the call as the number isn't going to remain active on your local network for very long; however, a lot of carriers in Ontario (I realize you're in Saskatchewan) have a charge per use forwarding fee, where you can forward your number to any Canadian number and you'd only be charged for the forward... Though the charge per call forwarded is $3.00... Learned that one out the hard way - Thought I was clever like that too.
My5 may be an option, though I do not know if it also pertains to forwarding, it very well might only be for inbound and outbound calls.

Re: Long Distance Charges??
Thanks for the response.
I looked into what you said for SaskTel, and it turns out that you have to subscribe for the service of forwarding a call.
According to the site:
Call Forward, Call Forward No Answer, and Call Forward Busy are $2.00 each per month, or you can get all three for just $3.00 per month
If you are subscribed:
If forwarded within local calling area, there are no charges for incoming calls. If forwarded outside local calling area, long distance charges apply.
SaskTel does not have the "My5".
Again, thanks for the response. All in all, it will cost me $3 to forward all calls. "I think"
I was looking through the settings of my Galaxy and I see there are settings right in the phone that can forward any type of call. I wonder how that works, if SaskTel will even know if I am forwarding calls, or if the Phone does it itself? I wonder if the package mentioned above is only for phones that dont know how to forward calls. But I think I still would need a local number to call. Which I cant find anywhere.

Re: Long Distance Charges??
Funny you should mention that, it is exactly what I did in my Blackberry Bold 9700; Options > Advanced > Call Settings > Forwarding > Enter numbers etc... and Bell still knew I was forwarding, and still charged me...Tridith wrote:I was looking through the settings of my Galaxy and I see there are settings right in the phone that can forward any type of call.
