Post by wanfish »

Hello ,

My problem is I could hear the other side quit clear but they always told me my voice is very low and not clear ,I am using PAP2 ,15m cable internet .
If I use my pc to call ,it looks like no problem.

anyone knows how to set the PAP2 or other setting.

Thanks.

Any chance you could try a better telephone? I seem to need a good phone with a good microphone to have a good conversation for some reason. those ancient Bell telephones with the big microphone is superior to the junk that passes for a phone now.

Another guess is that your upload speed is not consistent. if you can set the jitter buffer a little higher that might help. If you use the g.729 codec, you save on bandwidth, and the g.729 codec is a lot more resilient to data drops than g.711u (ulaw).

Then there is the hardware. There are good pap2's and there are not so good pap2's. Consistency in not it's virtue. You can play with the software settings, I believe freephoneline has a template, see what that does for you.

Check the input gain in the regional settings.

Also check what internet traffic is going on. If your'e downloading a movie and flooding your home network with data then voice calls might be mixed in and have problems too. Some routers have QoS which will help, but start at the basics first - if traffic could be a problem, stop all traffic and make sure calls are clear first, then play with other features/settings.

If you're using the pap2, it should be a bulit-in codec. Change the preferred codec setting under the Line 1 Tab to G729a or something like that.
