Linksys PAP2 FAX feature help needed.

Hello.

When I configure my PAP2 to receive faxes (on the Line 1 page in the setup menu under Audio Configuration I choose to use Pref Codec Only) I can receive faxes, but my phone does not ring.
If I change the settings to NOT use Pref Codec Only, my phone works OK, but rings when there's a fax entering.
What's the way to fix that?

Why don't you set your fax on one line and your phone on the second line (Line 2). The PAP2 can have two seperate phones.

You could also buy a second configuration and put your fax on that one. It would be like distinctive ringing for the fax.

2. I already have three lines and the PAP2 is not enough ...

I don't understand the problem... If you're receiving a fax, don't you want to receive it, and not have the phone ringing? Perhaps you could explain this a bit more?

Can't you just hook up your phone to your fax machine, and your fax machine into the ATA? Your phone will always ring, and if it's a fax, the fax machine will cut off the phone and receive the fax.

Of course I want to receive faxes without my phone ringing (this is what had already happened and I loved it) ...
Unfortunately, lately it does not happen anymore.
I prefer receiving the faxes by email in a .pdf format (instead of scanning them into a .pdf format), sorry, I don't trust in the old good paper anymore.
Also, the fax machine is a century old machine that needs cleaning, repairing, cartridge changing and I don't know what else maintenance ...
