Wild guess, but I would wager your router is crap, it being a DLink and all. Hopefully you can flash it with a better firmware, and if you are really lucky, you can flash it with DD-WRT firmware. What is the model of the DLink?

I just realized that this is in the wrong section. Sorry about that. I have a conventional phone that doesn't upload calls.

All right! There is a DD-WRT firmware for your version of the DIR-615, check here. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=13599.0 I recommend it, because it is stable, tested firmware. No flaky surprises either. And it is not just good for VOIP, your other internet applications will also run better with this firmware.
As for your ATA problem, can you make calls with the ATA? If so, you have a router problem. The reason you cannot receive incoming calls is your current router's firmware is just too retarded to know where to route the calls. DD-WRT is a lot better at that, but even it gets it wrong sometimes. Your best option is to manually configure ports to go to the ATA.
Also on the ATA, I recommend you set the registration time period to 110 seconds, because some routers need to be reminded where the ATA is, every two minutes. Otherwise, you will not be able to receive incoming calls.

I've put the registration time period to 180. Into my SIP settings of freephoneline, they say 180 to 3600. I don't need the firmware anymore. It works!
