This account is already in use. Please contact your ....

Post by volenin »

Hi, I'm starting to get some weird problem: every time I call my number I'm getting a reply right away saying that "This account is already in use. Please contract your administrator if this is not true" (or smth very close to this). I'm hooked up through SPA 2102 ATA adapter. The service has been working reliably for the last year. Now, I turned off ATA completely. I'm still getting the same message. Ie, the call seems to be terminated somewhere on the server side at Freephoneline. Needless to say, I did not change anything on my side for a LOOOONG while (at least a year).

Any help would be much appreciated. Servicedesk was of no help unfortunately. I just was able to make the guy create the ticket... waiting to see what they've got to say.

I can't really help with your problem, but I will say I usually get better luck asking questions here, or PM to Steve, rather than calling the help desk.

It certainly sounds like an error they should be looking into, I don't think there is much you could have done your end to cause it, apart from trying to log in from different devices, but even then it should 'steal' the registration from each other rather than block it.

Come to think of it, my daughter did have a problem like this once. I pay her DSL (that we have through FPL) but she is at another address. The credit card was getting refused because of the different address, but this was not made clear to me. I kept seeing my own payments go through and I thought her's were also. Anyway, long story short they shut down the phone line (but the internet still worked :?) and it gave a message something like that.

If I want to hear that message, all I do is cut off the power to the ATA while a call is in progress...it works everytime.

When I want to fix it, I simply power cycle the ATA, router and modem...it works everytime (I think I said that already  ).

I just wanted to share my experience...your situation may be different. ;)

Sounds like hung RTP sessions to me. We went through this where I work too, and it still happens sometimes.

Kris, Steve - You can add me to this list also. My line keeps getting gummed up and giving me this message. I have sent you both an email explaining a bit more.

Hi Jake - I've just returned to the office today from a week of holidays and will check into this for you as soon as I'm caught up on a few other things. I have your PM in my inbox.

Hi Steve, well Kris may have fixed it for me. Check with him first as I have not had a problem since he did what he did.

Hope you had a good break, but you had better get your nose back to the grind wheel - it doesn't ever stop spinning!
