Hello,
I purchased an OBI100 and would like to set it up with FPL and get the configuration set up on it.
However I don't see this ATA device listed in the Device Configuration Sharing section of the forum.
Also I haven't seen any option on the config page of the device, that will allow me to load any configuration file that I should receive if paying the $50.
I would like to know if my ATA is or will be supported and how can I use the config file, or if is there a way to manually set up the device.
Thank you.

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
You don't get a config file to load on to the device. Paying the $50 opens your account to SIP access, the "config file" you see get discussed are just the details for your account. Server/Account User/Password. Once you pay the $50 you get those 3 details. Slap them in to the SIP section on your OBI and go. No, I have never used an OBI, but SIP should be SIP, and if they followed the RFC, it should work.

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
Thanks for the info, but i'm wondering now why the person who I've talked to on the phone from Freephoneline, told me that there is an actual file that I have to use on the ATA device ?!?!
Other than server/user/password are there any other settings I will have to change in order to get the service running on the ATA or should I just leave everything else on default?
As part of this "config file" do they provide any other settings than the ones you mentioned?

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
You can start with a default configuration and tweak from there. You may need to change registration timers and such. They provide server, user, password, preferred codec, packet size and that's about it really. If no one else has posted config info for an OBI it means one of two things.
1) They are dead simple to configure and the defaults "just work".
or
2) You are the first one to try and use one on FPL and will be blazing the way.
I'd just go ahead and get the SIP access. We should be able to help you here on the forum work through any issues you may have.

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
The thing is, I want to try their service first on the OBI, to see if I'm able to get it to work and if the quality is good. This means getting an account with a provided phone number and then pay the $50 for SIP access for it.
If everything is OK and I decide to port my landline number, does that mean I have to pay $25 for porting and $50 again for the SIP access for my ported number?

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
If you already paid $50 for SIP settings, you only need to pay $25 more when you want to port over your number. You will of course lose the old freephoneline number when you do a successful port.

^^^^^ Yup, what they said.
I did the same thing. Ran for a few weeks with the provided FPL number on my Asterisk server, then ported my Bell number over. Best move ever.

Re: OBIHAI OBI100 support
I got an account yesterday and paid for the "config file".
All I had to do on the device is enter the user/password and servers address only. Left everything else on default.
It's working smooth as butter now, perfect sound quality. Tested both incoming and outgoing calls and everything is crystal clear. Caller ID works.
If everything will be OK in the following days, I will be porting my landline phone number soon.
The only thing that I still have to figure out is how to get my Panasonic wireless set with built in voicemail to get my messages, instead of the freephoneline voicemail service.
By default it is set to take the call after 5 rings. I have changed this to 4 but even like this the freephoneline service kicked in first...
I want freephoneline to take my messages only if my ATA device can't be reached (line/internet is down).
Other than this, the OBI is truly a great little unit which lives up to it's reputation. Highly recommended.
