no sound on both side

Post by boon »

Hi,

I've couple of issues encountered when setting up the ATA. My configuration are phone line-->Modem-->E3000 router-->SPA2102-->Phone

My Setup
1) On E3000, I'm using DHCP to assign a fixed IP for SPA2101 by using the MAC address and portforwarded 5060, 5061, 6060, 6061, 13000 and 13001 as UDP. I've setup the QoS as well.
2) On SPA2102, at Router-Wan Setup, I set "Enable WAN Web server" to yes (Once this is setup, I could access to the SPA2102 via E3000 router wirelessly. Else I have to connect to SPA2100 using ethernet cable)
3) And configured all the SIP informations provided by freephoneline when I signup couple of days ago

Issues
I am able to call both way (Voip to normal land line and vice-versa) and the receiving phone is ringing.
The issues are:-
1) Most of the time Voip has no ring tone when calling the land line and only one way voice (either caller or receiver)
2) Sometimes both party cannot hear any sound

Appreciate if anyone could help me on the above issues. If any of you guys are using E3000 and SPA2102 together then this will resolve all these matters.

Thanks again.

Try setting your port forwarding from 13000 and 13001 to something really open for RTP like UDP range 10000 to 32767

Also on the line tabe what codec do you have it setup to use?

Hi user451, I've updated the port forwarded (range) from 10000 to 32767.

I did a test a moment ago and noticed the following:-
1) On the Info section, the "Call 1 Encoder" and "Call 1 Decoder" displayed as G711u

Note: another strange things I noticed is that, sometimes the "Call 1 Encoder" displayed as "G729a". (forgot to get the screenshot for this). This explained why sometimes I get one way audio. I believe both the "Call 1 Encoder" and "Call 1 Decoder" should displayed as "G729a"

On my Line 1 and SIP folders, I've setup the codec as "G729a". I don't understand why in didn't encode/decode properly. Please refer to my screenshots.

I'm still getting nowhere. Can anyone who has a working SPA2102 post the screenshots for SIP, Line1, Regional and Provisioning.

Below are my testing results.

So it appears all incoming calls has no audio? I'm wondering if it's a router problem restricting/not forwarding UDP packets into your network.
A simple way to test is to direct DMZ to your ATA for 2 mins as you do a test call.

Have you updated your router's firmware to it's latest and greatest?

Which router are you referring to, E3000 or SPA2102?

FYI, the versions are as below for both routers
E3000 is using stock firmware 1.0.04
SPA2102 s/w version is using 5.2.10
