Sip status change time

Post by peanuthead »

Today I tested to power off the ATA, then I found out on the SIP setting page in my account, it shows it is still connected for quite long time , 10 minutes?

That will cause trouble to the Follow me feature as I tested.

What is the proper way to let the server knows my ATA is down ASAP?

Thanks

Have you actually had problems with Follow Me?

Somebody can correct me on this, but I don't think it's a big issue. A client/ATA can declare that it's disconnecting but not sure how the HT-502 does this. If you unplug and a call comes in, Freephoneline will have trouble contacting your ATA, give up, then revert to your Follow Me settings afaik.

I tested, even after 10 minutes. The status still shows connected. And I called from another phone to the FPL#, and the follow me# doesn't ring . There is a problem.

It's possible that your router is holding the connection to our server open. Have you tried port forwarding, or while being connected directly to your modem?

There is a refresh delay on the SIP status, but it's pretty small (not sure exact time off hand).

If it's not going to your follow-me or voicemail, then something is holding the connection to our server open and causing timeouts.

It was connected to the modem directly, without router.

I am on the same boat like you. I disconnected my ATA device and still show it connected. That's why my follow me numbers did not work.

I put my ATA on DMZ on the router and connect directly to the model

Please fix this problem thanks

Keep in mind the modem can also be the router. You would have to shut that down also for a bit.

Perhaps you could try to reconfigure the modem using a wrong SIP password. This would force the ATA to not be registered and would make it offline. If you wanted to use your ATA again, you would have to reconfigure it again with the proper settings, but this will turn the ATA offline.

I have no problem to receive call or make call. The quality was nice and clear but when I am not home I want it forward to my cell phone cause FPL server keep holding my ATA so that's why it never goes offline.

I shut down the ATA and modem but still said my ATA was connected

You will have to make sure that the freephoneline voicemail does not pick up before the call is being forwarded. Your ATA may also need to be rebooted and reconfigured. Also, you may need to do a factory reset on your ATA device, but this is an individual issue, so you could PM me with as much information as possible, including your freephoneline phone number, or you can call our technical support team at 1.866.515.5550. I did call technical support team and they said they will take a look into that issue.

I did do a factory reset on my ATA device already
