How to turn off ringer

Post by jester »

I have the linksys PAP2. I know that you can turn off features like call waiting by dialing * something-something.

Is there a ways to turn off and on the ringer for the entire system by dialing something. I have a new born and would like to turn off the ringer throughout the house without having to take the phone off the hook, when the baby is sleeping.

Alternatively, is there a way to send straight to voicemail since this would work as well.

Thanks.

I have a PAP2T and I don't know if it has the same features as a PAP2. On my PAP2T, dialing *78 would activate Do Not Disturb feature. When enabled, all calls will go to voicemail (or your call forward number, as the case may be) and your phone will not ring. When you are ready to receive calls again, just dial *79 and your phone will ring again.

You could try *78 (Do not disturb) and *79 to deactivate it. You won't get any calls though if it does work. You will still be able to call out of course.

If the ATA is accessible, you could just unplug the phones from it - but I am going to guess it is tucked away somewhere.

edit - great minds think alike :D
