Ontario 2-1-1 service

Post by TheHardy »

The Toronto 3-1-1 thread seems to be off-course a bit, so I have moved this one over here...

Questions were posted about adding 2-1-1 translation for various areas that FPL covers ... and my reply was to the poster that (quoting Steve) if the service provider has not requested 2-1-1 support from Fibernetics, that FPL cannot just 'add' the translation.

I found the following link, which, if you click on the area, will list an alternate number to 2-1-1 (all are 800-ish numbers)

Hope it is useful.

I used their contact form to ask about Barrie/Simcoe.

Glad to hear I was able to find you the link to be able to do so! Did you do send it from the main page, or go to the proper region that Barrie is in? I think that there is different contact information for the various regions as opposed to the MAIN one.

In the interim, if you are using an ATA, you can do a manual translation (see other areas for how to do that) so that you can just dial 2-1-1 from your handset even if it is not supported, and the ATA will dial out the corresponding 800 number...

I used the general contact as I couldn't figure out which region. I also asked which # I could manually dial for that purpose.

My best guess for you would be CENTRAL-EAST

1-866-743-7818 -- the map shows Simcoe Cty as one of the covered areas for this region.

Another link directly to the Central-East site:

http://www.communityconnection.ca/

Quote from site:

"Community Connection, a charitable organization located in Collingwood is the designated 211 service provider for Central East Ontario which includes Bruce, Grey, Huron, Perth, Simcoe, Muskoka, Parry Sound, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough and Northumberland - a population of about 1.2 million people."

I'll have to see about adding them to my dialstring perhaps.

I heard back and they were wondering who to specifically contact at FPL about 211?

PM Steve on this, as I had asked him the same question (in PM). His answer was...
FPL-Steve wrote: The n11 provider will know how to contact Fibernetics :)
I don't like saying 'eat your words', but it pops up.

Other suggestion would be to contact FN directly: info@fibernetics.ca (http://www.fibernetics.ca/contacts.html)
