# of rings for senior people

Post by seagame2001 »

I like to suggest something about the number of rings with FPL

I ordered FPL for my parents and they complain they could not get to the fast enough to answer and it connected to voice mail.

Please increase the number of rings at least 7 rings for senior people like my parents.

4 rings is too short for senior people to get to the phone to answer it.

I know when it get to voice mail FPL earn $, but you need to think about senior people that they are slow

Thanks

We will be making some adjustments in the near future. Right now you can set it to 5 rings, and you can set a call to forward for up to 8 rings, but we will look in to changing the ring time for elderly customers. Thank you.

a) Congrats Lauren on Site Mod title! :-)
b) Not just seniors, but there are others of us that are "youthfully challenged" ... I am not a spring chicken, but neither am I in a walker. Even in my 735 sqft 1-bedroom apartment, if I have my laptop/softphone in the living room (usual spot), and I am in any of: the bedroom watching tv, the kitchen cooking, or the washroom -- I can NOT usually make the softphone to answer the call -- I JUST miss it, unless I am there like a bat outta hell. Mind you, with the softphone, the first of the rings usually doesn't actually make MY softphone ring, so at a setting of "5", I get 4 rings before I show "missed call" (and, without flogging a dead horse, the INBOUND CID does not work on 3.0.3.0, so just missing a call means a whole process of finding out WHO I missed and calling them back!)

You are not allowed to hold your breath waiting for that change though, okay? Grinnin' is ok though! 8-) :D

Some changes come quick, others seem painfully slow. And that goes across both the software side of things, the web, and the back-end too!

Yes again, please don't hold your breath, but other moderators on this website have seen this discussion so your suggestions have not gone unnoticed :)

Happy to hear that information. Without changing the way that the forums are set up, or having a page/link/etc where it can be noted down, it is DIFFICULT to tell when/how/if anyone has taken note of any given issues/suggestions/bugs.

We cannot tell if an FPL mod (or anyone else from FPL/Fibernetics) has READ or ACKNOWLEDGED anything in the forums. Short of a reply from yourself, Steve or Kris (and maybe a guest appearance from another FPL-* poster...), there just ISN'T any indication.

Not that every bug/suggestion/issue NEEDS to be addressed or acknowledged, or that it is even reasonable or even feasible to do so, but perhaps that might be something to look into. I don't know how this particular forum/bulletin board software is configured, but in some of them, there are "rating" systems and such, which can either be used to rate a thread/topic, or even give it a STATUS, such as "pending" "acknowledged" "under review" "solved" and whathave you.

Perhaps not now, but at some point, something like that might be useful to look into (I know that no one really has a lot of time, especially for things that are NOT directly work related...) Just something else for the wish list, I guess.

That being said, it is nice to know, that as you posted, that the idea has been taken note of and perhaps will have some action taken upon it.

My suggestion was just meant to save someone having to reply to each one once it has been taken note of. Not that I am complaining that you let us know, mind you! ;)
