Re: Help! No service
Did you try to do a factory reset if the configuration procedure did not work? Are you able to log in to your device and see that everything is registered properly? Perhaps connecting the ATA directly to your modem and bypass the router to see if that helps? If you could send me a PM with as much information about the situation, or preferably, your account information, that would be great. I hope we can find a resolution for you.

Re: Help! No service
Well I would suggest that you send me a personal message with your account information so I can investigate this further. Perhaps finding a copy of the users manual for the ATA and trying to do a factory reset will help your ATA to register, but please send me your account information not in the public forum so I can help you. Thank you.

HT-286 problem
Just so I have it clear -- the HT-286 you bought from FPL did not work (blinking red light) and the call to tech support did not resolve the issue? If it would have been ME on the end of the phone call to tech support, I would have made sure that before I hung up, that it was registering and working on the network properly (IE no more flashing red light). Or did you contact tech support via EMAIL?
From what I have read and know from other users, tech support is pretty good at getting most issues resolved (albeit sometimes it takes a while to get a hold of them!). I find it hard to believe, especially for the HT-286 (which they support as they sell it!) that they were unable to get it working for you.
Not that I don't believe you -- don't get me wrong, I am probably missing something here. There has also been at least one other case of a defective ATA right out of the box where the user was unable to get it working (Gee, I hope that is not the case here!).
Also: so you borrowed a PAP2T, and it worked? No changes whatsoever to your existing computer set up? Nothing modified in the firewalls, or ports or anything? Just as a trouble-shooting procedure for yourself and for your own piece of mind, go thru the settings on the PAP2T and jot them down. Then if you have a bit of time to kill, throw your HT-286 back online, and CONFIRM that it's settings match (or mirror/come close to!) the ones that you had from the WORKING PAP2T. This will save you having to send it away, in case it was just a misconfiguration. There are also several setup guides/suggestions and help scattered throughout the forum here, just do a quick search and you will probably find a guide or two (or three...).
As for shipping it back to FPL, if i was from back in Mar/2011, I think you are on your own for that cost; the only indication that I have seen of FPL picking up the cost is when it arrives DOA (right outta the box). If you got it back in March, was it working for you up until now and then suddenly stopped? Or did you just now get around to installing it or what? Your initial post on this was unclear and re-reading it now, I am having some issues understanding.
Anyways, sorry I could not help more than that. Glad you are back up and running sorta, and good luck getting the problem resolved with the HT-286.

but was it the HT-286?
I understand that & know that you got the PAP2T going flawlessly -- I was asking if you crosschecked the functional settings of the PAP2T against the ones in the non-working Grandstream box? Not just the ones that the link/setup file there TELLS you to check, but ALL of them, to make sure that something did not inadvertently get messed up with the HT-286.
Probably more trouble than you want to go thru with a non-working ATA ... like I say, if you do want to troubleshoot it rest it to factory, and then make sure that all the settings are as they should be ... but, seeing you have something that works...
How long is your friend letting you have the ATA for? I mean, you can try contacting Grandstream direct, and see if there is some warranty that applies to it, but the cost of repair/shipping (they won't let you ship it to them for free, they might fix it and return it for free!) might just not be worth it. You can check it out though.
The cost of a new ATA could be cheaper ... so you might end up losing no matter how you go, just a matter of how much you could be out!
Sorry I could not help more ...
