I'm having problem with my voicemail. I never had to access my voicemail from phone (through *98), so I tried it for the first time only today. And it seems like the DTMF doesn't work on both lines I have with FPL. The DTMF DOES work on regular calls (if I dial any other number).
I've seen some ppl experienced this issue in the past which was generally solved by Chris/Steve by changing smth on the backend, but I'm not 100%...
Thanks, Vlad.
PS: I'm using ATA gwy to access the service, NOT the softphone and like I said, the DTMF does work for any calls other than voicemail access.
PPS: just called FPL support line (416-477xxxx) and the DTMF doesn't seem to work there either. Called up Rogers (that has DTMF menu) and key press are recognized correctly. Weird.

Re: DTMF doesn't work for voicemail
Try changing the DTMF type in your ATA. The two options I flick between are Inband and Auto on my PAP2T (on the Line 1 Tab).
This is the only thing that annoys me a bit with VOIP. But now I have one phone set up as Auto, and the other as InBand, so if it doesn't work with one phone I use the other one. So far I have not found a happy medium to please every automated thing I call. Luckily I don't call that many.

Re: DTMF doesn't work for voicemail
Problem solved. All it took is a bit of motivation from an FPL support guy on the phone (Mike I think) who basically told me that he'd be of no help (because my ATA gateway wasn't bought from FPL, no matter it's pretty much the same CISCO / SIPURA unit that they sell) and I will have to find solution myself. Which I did and I post it here for anyone else who might run into the same issue.
The issue was in the combination of codec & DTMF flag. For some reason, when you are calling FPL numbers the codec is negotiated to G711 (which is selected as secondary in my config) instead of G729a (which is prime). Unfortunately the DTMF Tx Method selected (InBand) does not work very well with G711. After brief search through the Net, the solution that worked for me was to select 'Auto' as 'DTMF Tx Method'. Now it all seems to be working fine.

Oh, thanks, Jack. Seems like you posted your reply at exactly the same moment I posted mine.

Hi Vlad,
I saw your PM here this morning regarding this - as the issue appears to be resolved now, I just wanted to let you know that I will disregard said message.

Yes, you can ignore that. Thanks Steve.
