Hi,
I have sent email to admin(at)freephoneline(dot)ca and filled contact form to request the authorization letter. But I haven't received any response yet. Can anybody post a link so that I can download it myself. It make me worried about the customer support service at freephoneline.
Thanks

Re: Letter of Authorization
From my understanding of reading through the forums (and I just double checked), when you CALL FPL to initiate a port-in procedure and speak to a salesrep about this, they will send you the LOA to fill out after they conclude the billing for the port-in fee. I am not sure why they do not have a pre-fab LOA available, but this seems to be the way that they do things. If you need more information on this, either call the customer service number (one of many) or do a quick search in this forum ... simply "AUTHORIZATION" will find you the relevant posts to refer to!

Re: Letter of Authorization
I will start by stating that contrary to the email, admin(at)freephoneline(dot)ca is not sent directly to me.
Our letter of authorization is kept 'secret' if you will until the end-user pays for porting, so we do not have endless LOA's coming in from customers who've not yet purchase any sort of packages with number porting included. Soon we will be rolling out a new voice authorization method whereby you'd call into our contact center, speak with an agent, and when the time comes for the authorization you are passed to an automated system consisting of "Do you authorize freephoneline.ca to transfer ownership of your current number from your current provider, to freephoneline.ca?" etc.. to be quite frank, I've not listened to all the options; however the concept is quite brilliant and relatively pain-free. No abrasive computer generated voice either!
This will eliminate issues with LOA's floating in without having been purchase, and in some cases without accounts!

In conversation with some people at Anveo, they pointed out that, at times, the provider that is going to be transferring the number out plays games (I've heard it happens more to our U.S. colleagues, but as a researcher in the social sciences, I have also to qualify that statement by saying that i did not follow that up to substantiate or refute it....
My question, then, since admin surely has seen all sorts of LNP situations--do you find it common at all that a provider will at least delay (decline for a while) long enough to get paid for another billing period?

Just because I've had varied experiences with LNP requests between two other voip providers I consider almost as important as FPL; and I've had one LNP for a Finnish mobile (Sonera) refused even though it had been ported before (the reason given was that it was not possible).admin wrote:I will start by stating that contrary to the email, admin(at)freephoneline(dot)ca is not sent directly to me.

Re: Letter of Authorization
I think there were clear rules established 4 or 5 months ago that put the brakes on the games the incumbent telco could play. The process can take no longer than 3 days for most ports, and a week for others. Probably fines and that sort if not done in that time frame.
