I am trying to get my FAX machine to work. I’m using an Grandstream Handy Tone HT-286 ATA and the FAX machine is an Epson ”Work Force 633”. The FAX machine seems to acknowledge a fax is coming but just sits there and won’t print. This machine was working fine before I switched to VOIP (about 10 days ago).
Has anyone run into this problem before and is there a solution to the this?
Many Thanks,
Pierre

Re: FAX and VOIP
Set your ATA and UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE:
Enter your IP address of ATA on your address bar in your web navigator, if requested, the default password is: admin
(To know the IP address : pick up the handset on your phone and dial ***02)
Click on tab "ADVANCED SETTINGS 1"

Click "Update" in bottom page

Click on tab "ADVANCED SETTINGS 2"

Click "Update" and "Reboot" in bottom page

Please WAIT...
After completed reboot, your fax machine should working.

Go here. http://www.voipmechanic.com/voip-epson-fax.htm
On the freephoneline side, set your ATA to use the g.711u codec.
Even with these settings, there is a chance you will still not be able to fax reliably. This is the reason why freephoneline does not support faxing. Your internet connection has to be pretty good.

Re: FAX and VOIP
PCMU = G.711u
I have a fax and an alarm system on my line FPL with the HT286 and it works # 1, set your HT286 as I have indicated and it will work!
