how to setup 2 sip line

Post by ale1668 »

Hi, can someone give me some info for this??

I already have 1 FPL SIP account with a FPL-ATA box, works great.

Now I would like to move landline phone number to a second line.

I'm planning on using 2 different physical phone line in my house for each number.

What do I need to do?

1- Setup a new FPL account for the second line
2- Get a new config file(SIP)
3- Ask FPL for Phone Number Portability(25$)
4- (??? not sure here) get a phone line splitter for the ATA to split the 2 lines or a another ATA???
5- Enjoy 2 FPL service for free :)

Thanks

if you want to keep you old landline numbers then port to FPL with new config file (sip)

you can run two FPL numbers on one ATA box.

First try the splitter see if it work or not

If not then buy the new ATA that's all. However I think it should work.

Another solution, just buy another phone to plug in your ATA box so your ATA has two phones plug in. Cheaper to buy the phone compare to ATA box

Good luck

The Grandstream HT-286 ATA we currently sell is single-line only. If you're looking to run a second line with a second phone, then you'll want to pickup a second ATA as well.

Your thinking looks good to me. As others have said, step 4. will depend on which ATA you have. If it is a PAP2T you can use the second line on that, if it is the current ATA that FPL sells then you will need another one as well.

If you find in step 1. that it tells you that you already have a FPL account, either clear your cookies or use a different browser/computer. You will also need to use a different email address when signing up.

ok great.

I was wondering if the Grandstream HT-286 ATA can use both pair of pins for 2 separate phone lines. The Grandstream HT-286 ATA does have 4 pins in the phone line jack output. So with a phone line splitter going to different phone base that could work, yes?? if the Grandstream HT-286 ATA software can handle the 2 pairs.

The HT-286 will only support a single SIP profile.
