I've recently (and currently) doing a test run with the Freephoneline service and the other day, whenever I'm in a middle of a call, the audio can sometimes be choppy. another issue that I have is that some of the calls tend to speed up by itself (such as the voice prompts, etc.). I also can't disconnect a call in progress therefore, I have to unplug my wired network connection on my router to stop the process - but I can still see some activity on my router and modem!
I have an internet connection with Rogers and I have a Linksys WRT54G v6 router (which is about 5 years old now) with the manufacturer-provided firmware. The Firmware Version for the WRT54G router is v1.02.8.
I also have a software firewall in addition. I normally rely with the ZoneAlarm firewall.
I wonder how can I solve these issues for my situation? Has one of you people suffered those similar issues before? If so, how was that solved?

Every time that I make a certain phone call for a certain period of time, I've tried to hang up using the "disconnect" button - but it WILL NOT stop. I have to close the softphone programme to disconnect the session.
What's more, my internet traffic still runs even though I closed the FPL softphone - for a certain period of time. After that, my connection has been stablised (meaning no "phantom" internet traffic is going out). I've enabled Quality of Service for my WRT54G router and enabled port-forwarding on it - but the results were mixed. The firmware version for my WRT54G v6 router is v1.02.8.
Do you have any other suggestions? I'm still test driving the service, before I can get an actually ATA device (not before I purchase a SIP file with you guys!).

Have you updated to the latest version of Java? I've noticed that the 'disconnect call' issue tends to be something to do with Java. I had this occur and uninstalled FPL softphone & Java. Installed the latest version of Java first, then the FPL softphone, and haven't had the issue since. Some of the other issues seem to be with the QOS on your router. Is that firmware the latest version? Did you allow the exception to the FPL software in your Zonealarm firewall as well? I have also purchased the Grandstream from FPL and there are far less issues using SIP with a SIP device as opposed to the FPL softphone. The softphone is running on your computer and can be affected by processor spikes, firewall filtering traffic, etc. The ATA is standalone and as long as your router is configured properly and internet is stable you won't have any issues.
