Message Waiting Indicator :: Is that working ?

Post by esenterre »

Hi,

I just bought a config file yesterday and I'm pretty newbie to all this VOIP stuff (but I'm a seasoned geek).

I have an ATA HT-286(287?). I put all the configurations inside it, and well it works fine. Except for the MWI.

AFAIK, if I have any New Voice Message, my HT-286 should be blinking to tell me that there's new messages. Isn't it ?

For now, I received my VM by email and can listen to them, but the MWI doesn't seems to work. Is there something I should know about it ?

TIA,

It takes about 10 minutes right now to cycle through all FPL subscribers to update their MWI (either on or off). Please see this post for more info:

freephoneline.ca uses what I guess you could call a cycling message waiting system. This means from the time you sign up, every 10 minutes our voice mail system is cycling through all accounts and signaling the devices that require MWI to be turned off or on, this just so happens to take 10 minutes.

Thanks for this quick reply! I saw this message too while searching for a solution.

But IDK if my problem is the same since my MWI doesn't light up at all, even after a full night of waiting.

I was wondering if there is something to setup in my HT287 ?

In fact I changed the setting "SUBSCRIBE for MWI:" to "Yes". But that didn't change anything.

I know that the config shown in the forum shows the setting to "No", but it didn't fixed anything.

Any settings I have to change to have the MWI working ? Am I also right presuming that the "White" button on the HT287 will blink if the WMI is working ?

I have the standard config and I generally just forward all vm to email. But I did try using "copy to email", left myself a message and eventually my phone started blinking.

My phones have a "message waiting" indicator light that flashes when the ATA signals the MWI on. In addition, the ATA-286/7 flashes it's LED indicator in green every 2 seconds, although I tend not to notice that since the ATA is downstairs sitting on a desk with the router and modem ;) .

I contacted the Support team (via form) and since than, it's working now. But really, they didn't answer that they have done anything (beside that it should works). So, no sure if they've done something or not, but it works, that's all I want! :-D

Thanks for your answer pedor, it was appreciated!
