I've had a couple of calls where we were charged more than the rates stated on the website:
19052****** 922134****** 04:00 11.12.11 11:04:32 11.12.11 11:08:32 Normal call clearing Karachi $ 0.36
Normal rate should be 8 cents per minute - so $ 0.32.
Also twice for Texas:
19052****** 12813****** 05:00 08.12.11 15:14:29 08.12.11 15:18:41 Normal call clearing Texas $ 0.14
19052****** 12813****** 01:00 08.12.11 11:42:55 08.12.11 11:43:01 Normal call clearing Texas $ 0.06
Normal rate for Texas is 2 cents per minute, so would have been $ 0.10 and $ 0.02 respectively
Now the total difference is only 12 cents, but I'd like to know why the discrepancy from posted rates....any ideas?
Not being charged the right long distance rates?

Re: Not being charged the right long distance rates?
Based solely on your post, it looks like FPL's system adds $0.04 to each call. I'm sure Freephoneline would look into this and make the necessary correction as this puts without a doubt, a black mark on a very reliable free phone service.

This would probably explain the 4 cents difference.

*NEW* connection fees
IMHO, this should have been a SPLASH on the front web page, and part of the pop-up style rotating ads on the FPL software. A CONNECTION FEE is more than just a change in rates --- it goes down to the foundation of the entire BILLING system.
IMHO again, I think this was POORLY handled by FPL and kind of slid in.
As for your charges for those calls, I would still contact Customer Service -- like I say, changing rates is one thing, but ADDING a whole new fee is an entirely different ball game. To me, smacks of dirty pool. I know the terms say that rates change from time to time, but this SURCHARGE as it were, is outside the scope of a SIMPLE rate change. I have not been personally affected YET, and I am NOW aware. If you are mad enough about it, a complaint to the CRTC or the BBB might be in order ...
I personally am not happy about the "new" connection charge, and even less so about how it was "SLID IN". Let us know how you make out...
