No free long distance to area code 604?

Can you try your call again? A bunch of updates were done on the Vancouver calling area this morning. If you still have issues, please PM me the number you are trying to call.

What are the first 6 digits? 604-nxx ?? Landline, mobile, VOIP?

There are a few prefixes around Vancouver that had some problems earlier (mis-tariffed -- ie not free). As Steve posts, there seems to have been some modifications made.

You beat me to that Steve ...

The only way that Chilliwack is a local call to/from Vancouver is on some mobile providers. Traditional wireline (landline) service does not include Chilliwack. Shaw homephone customers do enjoy a larger calling area which CAN include Chilliwack-Vancouver calling (even amongst NON-subscribers, ie not just Shaw-Shaw calling), but that is above the basic plan and is not considered "traditional".

Steve: Is Chilliwack (Sardis/Rosedale) one of the cities being considered for expansion, or is that just something that we will need to wait and see?

As Steve points out, 604-795 is Chilliwack, which is east past Abbotsford and part of the Fraser Valley (not metro Vancouver). Unless you got your numbers muddled and mean 604-759 which is New Westminster and IS part of Metro Vancouver and IS covered by FPL as a free call.

The shaw homephone just allows him to call to Vancouver without toll-charges, if he is on that plan. As he has a Chilliwack based number, he cannot currently be called for FREE from the FPL network ... and as Steve/Kris/Mike will remind you, it is only a low low $0.02/min (plus connection fee) to call NON-FREE locations using FPL (soon to be FonGo).



That being said, maybe Chilliwack will be on the radar for addition into the FPL family sometime soon!

I hope they do 343 (overlay on 613) as well, as there were several user reports of issues there as well. Are you using a script to bang numbers in there Jake? I haven't had a chance to see what changes have been made in BC (604/778/250) as I have had other things to occupy my time.

Nice work on those lists, Jake ... like the last column feature to spot the potential tariff errors; it is a tool like that which FPL should be using to go back and plug the holes that they have ...

In taking a gander at your list (not NFLD!), I see what you mean about them having really done a lot of work on the codes you covered, but there being a bunch more that needs to be done on other NPA's ...

I give them that it is a work in progress still -- however, how long did it take you to throw together that script and parse their database with it? I suppose what I am getting at (and full credit to YOU for doing it), is that it IS NOT rocket-science to beat the sharp edges off the tariff -- granted you have automated it, and I hand-plug, but it is far from getting a vehicle into geosynchronous orbit ...
