FPl and worldline
I just signed up for the home phone and high speed bundle from worldline.ca and am a little confused. Is worldline.ca the same as freephoneline.ca, since FPL does not seem to offer highspeed internet anymore. The difference between the highspeed and the phone bundle is $15. Is the phone line not free anymore?

Re: FPl and worldline
I would be confused by that also.
The config file is, and always has been, a charge of 50$, but even spread over a year that gives ~4$ a month. The actual number is free, as is the service calling within the free areas. Maybe the extra charge is for the 'free' installation? There are some other things, like a modem, number porting and shipping, but those are all listed up as free. Maybe they are free if you pay a bit more per month
It does include free long distance which I didn't get with FPL.
To be honest I would say you were brave signing up on that site, there is too many confusing and not very clear things on those pages.

Re: FPl and worldline
Freephoneline has discontinued the sale of DSL under our own brand name. Instead, we're affiliating with Worldline (another brand of Fibernetics') to offer DSL and home phone and internet bundles.
DSL through Worldline is actually a little cheaper than it used to through freephoneline (excluding the promotional freephoneline rates that ran for the last year).
If you sign up for the bundle service through Worldline then you get an upgraded calling area on your line (all of Canada becomes a free call), you also get high speed internet with no cap, free in-home installation (*qualifying areas), free modem rental and free porting. Long distance usage through Worldline is also like a traditional phone line and will appear on your monthly bill.
The Worldline bundle also has an excellent referral program - refer a friend and save $5/month on your bill for a whole year. If you're active enough then you can refer enough friends to the point where your bill is free and Worldline keeps crediting your account towards the next year's service!

But why is the bundle more expensive than the high speed option? What are the differences to make it worth 180$ more a year?

Re: FPl and worldline
Don't forget there is a dry loop fee which is approx. $10 a month if you subscribe to DSL without a Bell phone service. So the extra $5 a month to have free modem rental, extended Canadian calling area and free installation is not a bad deal at all.

You would have to pay the dry loop on the bundle as well from what I can see, and they are giving the LD package with the high speed deal.Amowagou wrote:Don't forget there is a dry loop fee which is approx. $10 a month if you subscribe to DSL without a Bell phone service. I just cant see what the extra 15$ a month is for. I'm sure it is for something, I just can't see it.
Now if this is cheaper than what my FPL DSL is next year, then I am interested to know the differences between the bundle and just the high speed option.

The extra $15/month covers dry loop fees, Thomson TG784 modem rental and the expanded calling area (all Canadian provinces become a free call). If you were to individually bundle the aforementioned items onto a regular DSL package then you'd probably be looking at [give or take] $25+ extra per month.

Re: FPl and worldline
Thanks Steve. The dry loop is not mentioned on the page. The modem is part of the 'Limited Time Offer', so I'm not sure if that can be counted towards the reason for the extra charge.FPL-steve wrote:The extra $15/month covers dry loop fees, Thomson TG784 modem rental and the expanded calling area (all Canadian provinces become a free call). It was wrong of me to ask questions here really. You are FPL support, not Wordline support. I will direct other questions to them. I will have a few more as the time gets near to when my discounted FPL DSL ends. I'm not even sure if I can get the WorldLine DSL without having to get another Modem. I have already bought one through FPL, I don't need another one.
Thanks again for replying.

TBH, the line starts to blur between the various divisions, especially when FPL bows out of a service it used to provide (and therefore support) and farms it out to another division.Jake wrote:It was wrong of me to ask questions here really. The convergence/devolution under the Fibernetics-umbrella can get confusing at times ... and then FonGo, which seems to want to be all-singing all-dancing, I suspect we might see more re-alignment to come in the near term.
As I can see that WorldLine does NOT have a dedicated support forum, I could see that perhaps there would be a desire to add a "WorldLine" section here (at the established forum) rather than petitioning for WorldLine to add it's own ... just need to get a WL rep to pop in here from time to time then!

That said, I dunno how much the line blurs between the divisions/personnel ...

Re: FPl and worldline
I don't think they have bowed out, I'm sure I would still get support if I asked for it. WorldLine has always (AFAIK) offered DSL. I just chose the FPL flavour (SuperSpeed) to keep everything under one umbrella.TheHardy wrote: TBH, the line starts to blur between the various divisions, especially when FPL bows out of a service it used to provide (and therefore support) and farms it out to another division.

As for the other companies, support, blurring lines, and forums sections; I don't know, that could get very confusing.

to name a few. I know some are geared towards businesses, but I think they are all Fibernetics related.
Personally I think they have to keep this forum FPL/Fongo related. I even think it gets a bit confusing for Budphone users to come here. For them to start seeing another name must make a few people to look twice. They won't all see the 'powered by' message everywhere.

Eyesurf, Nolinetel and Teletix are not us
Like most phone companies, Fibernetics has a very large wholesale/resale division. The three aforementioned companies are wholesale/resalers of our various services (along with their own product offerings in some cases). You'll find hundreds of companies across the globe who deal with Fibernetics on this level of business.

Even more reason not to have you support them hereFPL-steve wrote:Eyesurf, Nolinetel and Teletix are not us

Thanks for the quick replies, I guess I will have to wait and see, 1 year goes fast anyways. And support for them here is only proper since FPL is advertising them in the service and products. Anyhow thanks:>

Re: FPl and worldline
Most of the folks in the forum will offer help and support whenever and however we can, regardless of 'affiliation'. That being said, any WL support would be 'unofficial' in nature by the very fact that this is an FPL forum.
