Fongo Phone Numbers
I see that Kelowna BC is listed on the Fongo.com website list of free calling cities but the list hasn't changed on freephoneline.ca. Is Kelowna now considered a free calling city with FPL as well or only Fongo?

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
The freephoneline website will be updated shortly, but yes, the calling areas on Fongo are the new, expanded coverage zone for all services

Yes, I noticed that St. John's NL is now listed but the coverage appears to be quite thin. My number in the 709-700-xxxx and my nephews 709-437-xxxx areas are not included. Are St. John's numbers (DIDs) now being offered?

At this time only the free calling area has expanded. I'm unsure what the plans are in regards to expanding free DID offerings.

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
Well, I figured the best thing was to try the app. I have a Le Pan II Android Tablet... The app installs and runs but the dialpad is too large for the screen so that it is possible to to type numbers but not actually dial them. I can get a screen (squashed up) that shows the dial pad, dial numbers and they ring. On picking up the phone the line hangs up after a few seconds.
Some local St. John's numbers work and some do not. The 709-700-xxxx , 709-437-xxxx numbers are "Long Distance" but 709-757-xxxx numbers are free. After trying FPL on my PC using the PC client, which I have to admit works, but finding it very awkward to use and strange in its behaviour at times (going off line and suddenly freezing). I had hopes for the Dell Android App but it has a little way to go before it is really ready. And no, they do not offer St. John's DIDs.

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
I don't think it is the fault of the application. I was able to maintain a phone call to my cell phone from Dell Voice (same phone...
) as well as to my phone here at the office for about 3:00 minutes each after which I ended the call. Just to be safe, I called a Holiday Inn in St. Johns; Simon was very kind, unfortunately I did not book a room. That call lasted for about 4:00 minutes before we had nothing else to talk about.
If the resolution is as odd as you say it is I wouldn't put it past Android OS to force close the application, it could also be the data network over which you're connected. I was running all of my calls over our internal wireless network (~5Mbps/640Kbps).

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
By messing with the controls I was able to get the screen sized to something I could use (blurred though and only pops up occasionally). I called a Toronto number (416900xxxx for Spokn) and linked back to my phone and that worked very well. Incoming calls to the Montreal DID work OK as the display fits the screen OK for that. I run the Le Pan II on my wireless network and there is not problem there and my cell phone is far too old to use a data network. It seems that the only real problem is the outgoing dialpad screen is simply too big (goes off the bottom of the screen).
If I can just figure out how to get the screen to fit permanently then it is better than the FPL MS Windows client.

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
Once these new numbers are available through the Dell Voice app, will we be able to change to one of them? I signed up and received a Vancouver phone number, but I'm in Victoria.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Fongo Phone Numbers
I'd certainly suggest that you sign up now! As we continue to expand we will be sure to not make it a difficult process to get a number in your own city when they become available.
