Installation Fails

I installed the app on my laptop okay but the dial pad didn't work. Checked this forum but no resolution so decided to reinstall. Even after a re-boot the installation keeps failing because of "an error" no indication of what error or how to resolve other than try again later. Tried many times without success. Is there a fix for this and for the inability to dial.
I'm using vista home premium on an Acer laptop. Interestingly I tried the i-tunes version too and got the same error message trying the install from Apple so now I don't have i-tunes either.
