It's stranger they ran out, isn't it. From what they have said it was very popular in Toronto!

I'm not sure when they added these npa-npx numbers to their (Fibernetics) portfolio, but it wasn't there last time I really took note of the list. (647-847 and 647-947)

So maybe it will just be a few days before they sort out the new numbers to add into Fongo system. You can be sure at some point they will add in more, either from those two sets, or maybe some new ones.

Hang in there I guess.

Thanks for the info.
Not suprised Toronto numbers are popular.
Surprised Dell didn't expect so also.
I don't think much of Dell for flubbing this.
But, it's free so I can't complain.

I think Dell is just supplying the name, I don't think they actually have anything to do with the back end of things.

Dell put their name on it, for a reason, so Dell is ultimately responsible.

I don't agree they are ultimately responsible. I doubt they even know there is a lack of Toronto numbers.

DellVoice is "powered by Fongo" so it is just down to an oversight by Fongo. If you want to make anyone responsible it will be Fongo.

Also, if DellVoice doesn't have any Toronto numbers, then neither will the other phone systems "powered by Fongo"

http://budphone.ca/
http://budlightphone.ca/
http://kokaneephone.ca/
http://zphone.ca/
http://budlightlimephone.ca/

And their own inhouse http://freephoneline.ca/

They can't all be 'ultimately responsible' for running out of Toronto numbers, but I think that Fongo will be the one to hold their hand up (which they have done BTW).

I think the popularity of the service outstripped the demand. While there are lots of numbers available that are local to TO in other ratecentres, none share the same large calling footprint as TO numbers, and hence their popularity. Then again, with Fongo, the calling footprint is less relevant than traditional landline, but for incoming calls or just the plain old prestige of having a TO-based number ....

I would assume that Fibernetics has started the process of getting a few more TO-based exchanges. I know that they have at least one new one in Vancouver reserved now also, bringing the Vancouver-proper total to _3_, as well as ones in the immediate suburbs.

647-872 - Fibernetics - assigned
647-873 - Fibernetics - assigned
647-874 - Fibernetics - assigned

3 more prefixes coming soon -- 30,000 numbers potentially. There will be some lag/lead time as they are implemented though, as it takes a while to bring them online!

Sadly, at the moment we are not able to offer Toronto numbers. When we first released Dell voice, we had not been expecting the HUGE response we got. Although we have ove one million numbers at any given time that can be assigned, they are broken down to all of the regions we offer service in.
At this point, we ask that you take a number for another area local to Toronto (perhaps Markham or North York) When Toronto numbers become available again, you would want to either sign up a second account while using another email address, or delete your account and sign up again using the same one.

416 484 numbers look as though they are owned by Bell, so you would have to talk to them.

I still get a "no Toronto numbers" when trying to signup online with dellvoice.

Did you get the number through your phone or online?
We're sorry, there are no available telephone numbers in that area. We recommend you search one of the following areas: Ajax-Pickering, Aurora, Clarkson, Cooksville, King City, Markham, Newmarket, Oakville, Richmond Hill, South Pickering, Stouffville, Streetsville, Thornhill, Unionville.

I just tried again and got a 647-847 number, but when I clicked no to see a different one I got the same one again, then I got the no number message again.

This makes me wonder if Fongo are just releasing recycled numbers one at a time, rather than blocks of new ones.

What NPA-NPX numbers did anyone just get?

From the numbers I have been offered (when I do get offered one) I think they are reclaiming and releasing old 647 numbers as a stop gap until they have the new exchanges for release.

when people port over a number to Dell Voice, the number that they originally had is released back into the number pool. That number can than be taken to another account. Although we may not have (as of yet) been able to add a larger number to our system, we still try and follow two of the three R's for recycling (Reuse and Recycle)

I think, IMHO, that it is a recycled/reclaimed number, as there seems to be a hold up with new TO-based numbers coming on line. Remember that _FIBERNETICS_ owns the blocks of numbers that FPL/DV/Fongo assigned from, and NOT ALL the numbers in a Fibernetics block are AVAILABLE to FPL/DV/Fongo service -- Fibernetics needs to hold back some for their OWN use as directly assigned BUSINESS lines, not to mention that Fibernetics is also a DID-reseller itself -- they make far more revenue from reselling DIDs then they do from providing FPL/DV/Fongo service ...

[side note: we need a good abbreviation for FPL/DV/Fongo ... may I be so bold as to OFFICIALLY suggest FFD (for FPL/Fongo/DV) as our short form??]
