Replace my carrier voicemail with my FPL number?

Post by graydon »

I recently came across a new promotion for a local carrier in my area called mobilicity, which offers unlimited talk, text, data for 25/month. unfortunately voicemail is not included.
I thought of a way around this...
I have an android phone and in the phones call forwarding settings i can forward unanswered calls, busy calls, and unreachable calls to the phone number of my choice. Currently it is set to my carriers phone number, but i could set it to a fongo freephoneline number and the voicemails would be stored there, the only problem is I wouldnt be able to retrieve them until i had access to the desktop software. Is there a way i can change my phones voicemail retrieval number to a fongo number that allows me to retrieve my voicemails??

Have you considered the Dell Voice app which is powered by Fongo?

They have remote access numbers http://www.freephoneline.ca/vmAccessNumbers so you can pick up your voicemails from anywhere.

You can setup the freephoneline account to e-mail (not SMS) the voice messages as mp3 files to your cell phone. You just play the mp3 files from your phone and do not have to retreve your VM at all.

I set my voicemail access number in my phone settings to the corresponding number in the above list so that i can retrieve my voicemails from my cell phone the way i normally would.
