[resolved] Tariff issue: Abbotsford BC 778-779

Post by TheHardy »

As I have been absent from the forums, I attempted to address this via Customer Support Email ... but was told it was NOT covered by the free calling area.

I have a new cell for TXTing only, from WIND (the Walmart $88 deal) ... I was assigned an ABBOTSFORD, BC # ... 778-779-xxxx.

While this should now be a FREE CALL from within the FONGO network, it is rated at $0.02.

Other Abbotsford #'s are included in the FREE AREA, and Abbotsford is announced as officially supported.

Could Steve or Kris or Mike please look into getting 778-779 included in the tariff table -- carrier is GLOBALIVE WIRELESS (Wind), and even though the CNAC site lists it as "assigned", I can vouch personally that it is indeed active, as I am holding a cell that has been assigned that npa-nxx.

Thanks ....

Welcome back!
I suspect the reason why you were told that it isn't free to call is that it doesn't seem that Fibernetics has a rate center that is local to that one. They do however list Abbotsford as being free - but then they also list other areas as being free but some of those are only partly covered.

On a slight tangent, I was interested to know where Abbotsford was. Being British there are a lot of places that are new to me over here - so I got good old Google maps out. Seeing that it is right on the border I zoomed in a bit and found these houses http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=abbotsford ... a&t=h&z=19

This probably won't interest many people but I found it quite amazing that 2 houses could be 40 feet apart, yet be in different countries, live under different rules, have different currencies, and have different presidents.

Thanks for the WB ...

You are correct on both counts there -- no local Fibernetics rate centre, but ALL other exchanges in the ratecentre of Abbotsford are covered (checked them all with the ratelookup tool!). Also Abbotsford and Mission are indeed listed as free calling areas on the DV and Fongo sites.

About 45 minutes to the East of Vancouver along Highway 1 (or 1A). Close to the USA border (Sumas, WA is opposite). WEST of Chiliwack, South of Mission. Even though it is considered to be outside of Metro Vancouver, there are lots of people that live in Abby and commute in to other suburbs or even Vancouver-proper. It has lower housing costs, and is exempt from some of the local transit levies that are part of the fuel charges in Metro Vancouver.

If you need more info on this, lets move it to a GENERAL board! :-)

Still not resolved ... attempting a PM directly to Steve. Maybe in my absence I have fallen out of the good books. ;-)

Thank you Steve, much appreciated. Just a note that as of this post, it is still not rated correctly and therefore fails on my $0-balance account (obviously therefore, NetOps has not resolved it).

As of this evening (right now), I checked 1778779 on the rate-lookup-tool and found it now rated at $0.00 ... and tried a call my softphone app (FPL-PC).

I can CONFIRM that 778-779 (Abbotsford-WindMobile/Globalive) NOW works correctly as a free call.

Thank you for taking care of this!

*and feel free to edit the topic to show [*RESOLVED*] as I cannot edit my own topic ... ;-) *
