Winnipeg Manitoba (204) Number
Looking for a Winnipeg 204 area code #. Any info on when they will be available? If I have a number I would like to port (204) does it have to be a cell #?
Thanks...
Thanks...

Re: Winnipeg Manitoba (204) Number
AFAIK, there are no 204/MB #'s available at this time. From previous queries IN GENERAL about the pending availability of numbers in new areas, the default official answer is: "Not at this time. We are always expanding. Please check back with us later. As Fongo-Fongo calls are always free, we encourage you and your friends to ALL sign up for our fantastic free service and enjoy free calls to and from each other."
That being said, Wpg has been suggested previously and IS for sure on their radar ... but a timeframe is going to be harder than BOTH of (a) nailing room temperature jello to the wall & (b) putting toothpaste back into it's tube via the screw-top neck [frequent readers will recognize that I have been VERY specific in my analogies...]
And, on a similar vein, why NOT get a "temporary" FPL #, say out of BC (all of them are around the Vancouver area) or AB (Cgy or Edm) temporarily just so that you can make OUTGOING calls and make use of the service? While there is CURRENTLY no provision to "change" your number (once a Wpg one becomes available), you can ALWAYS cancel your old temporary account and then turn right around and sign up for a NEW account when they have Wpg #'s available!

another option on top of that, is to have the people you are calling sign up for the it as well. then you can all call each other, free of charge, without any issues

Damn Mike, I know you too well -- skip back up to my original post and re-read the FIRST paragraph!FONGO_mike wrote: another option on top of that, is to have the people you are calling sign up for the it as well. then you can all call each other, free of charge, without any issues

Of course, that means having a decent SUPPLY of numbers available too, but we won't go into the shortages that TO and MTL had ...

Did my other suggestion for possibly having more RATECENTRES for Metro Vancouver (other than VANCOUVER proper) ever get passed up along? I did it in another thread, and just checking the CNAC site, I do see that available "vanity" 604 numbers for the ORIGINAL NPA of Vancouver are dwindling, being snapped up my Distributel, ISP Telecom and Iristel .... Fibernetics does have two more NPA-NXX's assigned for VANCOUVER (proper) but 778-775 and 778-776 .... (not quite relegated to NPA 236 yet ...)

Re: Winnipeg Manitoba (204) Number
Thanks for the replies. I guess I have some free time while I'm waiting for my 204 area code. I'm gonna see if I can nail some room temp. jelly to the wall and get my toothpaste back in the tube.
Thanks for the other suggestions - that's what I'll do for now.
When the 204 #'s come out, Where would that be posted?

Thanks @Fongo_mike referring me to this thread. My next question is that can I port my magicjack area code 204 # to freephoneline or dellvoice ?

As to WHERE, you can be pretty sure that as soon as someone SPOTS new cities/areacodes etc available, that it will be posted HERE! Where on the website? Unknown! We (the forum members in general) usually tend to FIND things that FPL/Fongo has not gotten around to announcing... and Steve/Mike/Kris from Fongo do a pretty good job of letting us know here -- not BEFORE it happens, but before the websites are updated for sure!!

I will ATTEMPT to remember to PM/email you directly too (assuming you have those enabled on your account here) if/when I spot 204-numbers --- are you looking for Wpg, or something else? I imagine that Wpg _may_ be the only 204 that comes before we are all old and grey ...

Re: Winnipeg Manitoba (204) Number
Any news or updates on the release of Manitoba numbers. I'm guessing its not going to happen until the end of July when the new area code is released ?

Re: Winnipeg Manitoba (204) Number
Nothing yet --- and I do not think that the area code release has any bearing on release of 204 #'s. There are enough left in 204 if Fongo/Fibernetics were to request an exchange. However, opening up an NPA-NXX costs start-up money, and it is unclear if Fibernetics is currently expanding it's DIDs or still in the planning stage.
