Hello,
I've recently installed the software for Windows 7, and registered for a new phone number. However, for the life of me, I cannot get the software to make a connection to the server.
I've turned off Windows Firewall, ensured all 6 ports (All UDP, 13000, 13001, 5060, 5061, 6060, 6061) are allowed through my Trendnet TEW-652BRP Router, and also forwarded the ports to the PC with the softclient. I've tried specifying only UDP and TCP/UDP as well.
I have a 2wire DSL router as an upstream 'gateway', and I've placed it in bridging/DMZ mode, such that all traffic should flow unhindered to my Trendnet router. The Trendnet router does have an public IP address, indicating that the 2wire is in DMZ mode properly.
I've rebooted everything and reinstalled the software as well. The 'test connection' feature of the softclient just reports a timeout for the Results section.
I do have another Mitel softphone, which I've powered off, and also rebooted the router and the 2wire gateway after powering it off.
The only port that is reliably open from the outside world (on http://www.canyouseeme.org) is 6060. No other ports report that they are open, or that the application replies on.
Any suggestions?
thanks!

This may be an off the wall suggestion, but you can try changing the port number that the software is using in the software itself.
The "test connection" failure seems standard... I get that and I am not behind a router.
As a last resort, you can always take the router out of the equation and see if you can get connection that way ... at least then you know that the trouble would be between the router and the computer rather than being a windows issue.
Which softphone client are you using? FreePhoneLine or DellVoice? Or one of the other skinned ones?

Re: Softphone - No Connection to Server
Thanks for your suggestions, and I did some further troubleshooting today.
I'm running the freephoneline software. I was able to get a connection to the server via bypassing the router completely. I also loaded up Wireshark packet sniffing tool during this time, and while the software was attempting to SIP register with the server, I would get a few 401 unauthorized messages from the SIP server, but it would eventually register after a few retries.
Now, I went back to trying to connect through the router again, and the same problem as yesterday occurred. The wireshark sniffing program indicated that the SIP server simply would not register my PC, even after trying many times.
I've upgraded my router with new firmware, though I didn't see anything related to SIP in the fixes list.
I've also allowed through the firewall another SIP IP that was previously unknown, and ensured all 6 UDP ports are forwarded to this PC.
The interesting thing is that during troubleshooting, another person called my number, and I was able to talk to them just fine through the softclient, without being registered on the SIP server.
Anyone else experience problems with the SIP server simply not registering a client?
