Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) Not Going Off

Post by PainCourt »

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if someone has come across where the MWI not going off after message has been checked. I have had this problem for the last week. Before that, all was well. My message indicator continues to be on, but no message. Thanks for the help!!!!!

I'm using a Linksys WRT54GS2 with DD-WRT (QOS activated) and Grandstream HT286.

From what I understand, it can take 10 minutes or more after the message has been checked for the light to turn off, and also 10 minutes or more for the light to come on after a message is left.

How long does it stay on for?

After a week, the MWI finally went off. Not sure what happened, since I did nothing! If anyone can explain, it would be great. Thanks!

Tonight's upgrade http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2664 is addressing a couple voicemail related features as well. I have good hopes this should be resolved in the morning, if not, please let us know.

jovan1, if you got a Linksys ATA then your Message Waiting might be set to YES in " User * " Tab. Change that setting to " NO ".

The FPL MWI Service still doesn't work.

What type of device are you using, and what are your MWI settings set at? There's currently no problems on our end with MWI since the network upgrades last week.

I am also having problems with the MWI. We received multiple messages throughout the weekend and our MWI was not triggered (on) at all.

I am in the middle of doing my own test this morning. I left a voicemail for myself 31 minutes ago and have yet to see the MWI change on our home phones.

It appears to still not be working.

fyi - I have had the FPL/Fongo service for more than a year now. Nothing has changed on my end when the MWI problems started getting worse about a month ago. I have power-cycled my internet, my router, and my Linksys PAP2T device, but setting haven't been changed anywhere.

It's now 4:24pm. If I call into voicemail *98, I am told there are 3 NEW messages. But, the MWI has still not bee triggered. Could someone look into this again on the server side?

I too have been having ongoing MWI issues. Either it doesn't come on at all (that has become the norm), or at least once in the past few weeks it finally came on and we immediately checked and deleted the message but then it stayed on for days. MWI is really useful when you are using this service as a home phone!

I have been having the same problem until now. MWI is sometimes not going off even i've tried to recheck it ( try to erase VMI) and my ATA is grandstream HT286 from FPL. ;)

If you are using cordless phone, try press the "Off" or "Cancel" button for a few seconds, the Message light/note on the screen might go.
