Local Number Port Problem

Hi, I have been reading a bit concerning about transferring over my phone number over to FPL/Fongo. I have recently (2-3 days ago) purchased a Local Number Port transfer over, but I am now encountering problems related to some people.

My home phone line is now completely dead. There is no tone whatsoever, completely silent, but, I used my cell phone to call my original home number and it connects. The weird part is my my home phones are not ringing even whenever I call that number (seems to be somewhere else + voicemail is not working??).

Since my home phone is down, my internet (Bell) is down as well and I am trying to see if there is a fast way to get a workaround this problem.

Also, during the process of the local port transfer, one of the FPL employees told me there wouldn't be any downtime.

The Fongo CSR did not lie, at least not intentionally. This is Bell being Bell, which Fongo has no control over. The only thing I can say is it will eventually work out, although the DSL with a phone is always a mess.

Can you PM me your FPL/Fongo number os i can take a look at your account? I want to make sure 100% there is nothing on our end that may be interfering with service.

Also log into your Bell account and check what services you still have from them. It seems like you have been completely disconnected. When I dropped myBell Aliant phone service the DSL was never affected at all and the phone did not go dead (only a dial tone but no connection). They also sent a voltage adjusting device just before the phone service was terminated.

Hello, my service is still shown whenever I log onto Bell. It seems to be more of Bell's internal doing, :(. I will keep updating this for anyone who may encounter this problem.

Well, the last time that my phone line went dead about 2 years ago I had to wait several days for them to send out a technician who quickly discovered that the line had been disconnected probably by someone disconnecting the wrong line. The problem was corrected in a few minutes but I am still waiting for the apology...............
Looks like Bell are the one that have to help you.

When I moved from Telus, they disconnected my entire service: Phone,Internet and TV. They claimed I requested such move. I had NOTHING for a week until they sent a tech out and reconnected it. They said it cannot be undone over the software (even though they did not touch a thing at the physical location).

Work on getting your internet back. Getting Fongo service was a breezer after that. Telus will not earn my dollars unless there is no better alternatives for life. Shaw indeed costs more but their customer service seems better and more reasonable.

I think Bell makes it tough to port out their service. I have a few friends they port out Rogers no problem at all so easy they said to me

Technically, there is no real problem in the port process whatsoever. Why some providers are so ignorant and make it so difficult is an absolute mystery to me. The only option available is to file a complaint with both Bell and the CRTC -- the feds are the only ones that have a big enough stick to beat Bell into compliance, unless some individual with DEEP pockets cares to file a lawsuit ...
