Is there a service problem today in Toronto?

Post by allforone »

I can't register my Linksys SPA2102 to make call. It shows "Failure" of registration state. The softphone doesn't work either. I also tried Dell voice, no luck. Any idea?

Thanks

Very frustrated as can not use in weekend. I used VBuzzer before, never had this kind of issue. This company will be out of market soon?

Service Outage?

Post by OttawaGuy »

My PAP2T cannot connect to the Fongo server. I don't know when the issue started, as I just woke up to find my phone not working. Anyone else having the same problem?

Service appears to be down in Ottawa today. This seems to be an ongoing trend.

Rebooting

Post by TheHardy »

Sometimes doing a reboot on your router and ATA helps. Are you using an ATA and if so, which brand? What order are things connected in? Order of reboot sometimes makes a difference too.

As there were not too many people reporting issues, I would imagine that it may have either been a localized issue, or an individual configuration error.

phone wont register today Vancouver BC

Post by vanguy2009 »

Anyone else having problem with the phone today ? its stuck at unregistered status for 6 hours now.
tried power cycling many times and there is internet. I noticed that sometimes the service would be down for at most and hour and comes back online again, today is the first time It hasn't recovered quickly, definitely 6 hours + is the longest its been down for me.
my setup:
shaw cable modem --> linksys spa2102 --> phone

There are no issues on our end that would be causing this sort of problem. I'd suggest checking the SPA2102 configuration and/or testing your line in a softphone application.

I think whatever it was it was solved somehow after 9 hours. I still think its freephoneline's server thats declining to register the account as everything on my end was working. Maybe database issue/maintenance ? Anyway I have a report # from when I called tech support (41368). I guess you can close it now.
some notes:
- there is internet connection
- my setup motorola surfboard 5102 directly connected to a linksys spa2102
- linksys spa2102 connected to phone and ethernet out connected to a dlink dirr615 router.
- tried power cycling everything in different combination
- all the while the status in spa2102 web config page is saying that registration failed.
- lastly I removed the linksys sp2102 and connected directly to modem, installed the softphone but its taking a long time (stuck at connecting to server) I assumed its also no able to register.

Problem here in Woodbridge/Vaughan. Can't login even after rebooting the PAP2T so phone is down.

Edit: Heh, figures right after I post this the session is logged in but I can't make proper calls. Incoming and outgoing are sporadically not working.

user451, have you given the ATA a static IP and forwarded the ports required from the router or did you just connect it initailly and it worked?
It sounds very much like a configuration problem.

some notes:
Just a quick note for you -- anytime you ahve a registration failure for your ATA, just load up the softphone that defaults for either FPL/DV (as the case may be) and see if THAT registers. If it does, then it is generally NOT a Fongo error. Flipping back to the ATA after CLOSING the softphone correctly, should -- in this case -- resolve the issue for you! :-)

I'm just outside Ottawa and my service is also down even though my Linksys PAP2T and SIP status on Freephoneline.ca both say connected.

This is kind of getting ridiculous with that big outage in March. Hopefully they get this resolved in a more timely fashion.

Thanks, this system has been configured and working since last June except for a few FPL outages such as the recent one. In this case it resolved itself after 30 or so minutes.

Cheers

What are your keep-alive times? It has been suggested in other threads on this forum to reduce the standard ones of 3600 to a lower value, which may result in more "up-time" at the tradeoff of more network traffic ... may be the solution you need though!
