Voicemail Access

I am currently using the soft phone. Everything is working well except my voicemail access. When I dial *98 from the softphone I get the message saying "Press 1 for your message, Press 3 for Personal options". When I press 1 or 3 the system doesn't recognize the tone. I have the DTMF type set to RFC 2833(tone). Anyone have any idea whats going on?? Thanks

Well I'm not sure what to say, it works for me here as well as everyone else.

The programmers are SURE they fixed the DTMF issue -- Presenting itself to the end user and not passing along through the phone.

So hopefully this next release very shortly will do just that.

Well, its weird. When I call *98 voicemail, the tones don't get through to the voicemail system .But when I call my work and enter an extension it worked fine, which seems weird since it should be the same thing.

Has anyone had a chance to test this by calling any other SIP systems which require an extension to be entered?
I'll try and do so later today if I can slot it in.

I don't normally use the softphone but I tested it and it works fine for me. Both using the numbers on the keyboard and by clicking on the numbers on the softphone. I tried it several times and it worked each time.

I still cant get this to work, and I have no idea why. I am also having a problem where the first call I make after starting the softphone I get one way audio, the other person can hear me but I cant hear them. After I hang up this first call and initiate a new call everything works fine from there on out until I restart the softphone. then the same issue again.

regarding the one-way audio - have you done any port forwarding?

yeah I have forwarded the ports, but I dont 100% trust the router I am using, It may not be forwarding the ports properly.

What brand/model is it? Some cheaper routers won't preserve source ports when forwarding. Here's an example regarding some D-Links: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16656670

Its a netgear wgr614v6 refurb. I have had some other problems with it so I am wondering if that is causing the problems. I need to find a good router refurb on the cheap that doesn't suck.

Yeha, I saw they have the WRT54G2. Can anyone confirm that this router works well with FPL? Anyone had any problems with the WRT routers?

I'm using a WRT54G at home - not a problem at all, they're great routers. I'm not sure what differences are with the G2 though.
My other network at home is running a D-Link DGL-4300 - also a great router, I didn't have to setup any port forwarding or anything because it has wonderful QOS for games and VOIP.

It does sound like a forwarding issue. Try to DMZ your computer that's running the softphone and see if that works.

Anyway, on the account of Linksys routers I suggest going to dd-wrt.com they have all of the hardware specs of each model and version of many routers, including all the Linksys routers.

It's necessary for them to keep record of this information because they do third party open source Firmware for various models of routers, and BTW it works brilliantly. You might consider trying to breath some new life into your netgear with the appropriate firmware package that they provide as well.

I'm currently running a multiple point wireless access network using their firmware and it works great. Even have Multiple Xbox360s connecting to XBL over it
