Problem calling Cogeco Numbers in Belleville

Post by andysiddell »

Since yesterday I have been unable to call any numbers, from my Belleville FPL or Dell Voice number, that start (613) 779-xxxx

These are Cogeco Cable numbers. They have worked in the past but as of yesterday when I dial one of these numbers I get nothing. No message, no errors just silence. The numbers work from my Bell line.

Is there anyone else in the area that can try this just to make sure it's not just my problem. If anyone from FPL is viewing this, please take a look and see if there are an issue with calls between the two platforms.

Thanks, Andy

Heyas -- using the FPL softphone and my Vancouver-BC based number (calling out of Surrey), I can report that a random sampling of 613-779-xxxx numbers I dialed get dead air, a long time delay, and then "FAILED" message. No ringing, no error, no tones, nothing but dead air to FAILED.

I don't have any "real" numbers to try (PM me if you want!), so I just picked a couple of randoms -0000, -1000, -5560 ....

My best guess would be that it is a routing issue, most likely on the Fongo side, but where, I would be unsure. May I suggest PM'ing Steve?

Best suggestion is to PM "FONGO_steve" or "FONGO_mike" --- they are official Fongo reps who tend to camp out on the forums and are both very helpful and can fwd the problem to the right network-ish people to hopefully get it resolved.

Other Belleville #s do seem to work tho, but I only tried a few ... just not working on those 779's

UPDATE on Problem calling Cogeco Numbers in Belleville

Post by andysiddell »

FONGO_steve has acknowledged that there is actually an issue and a ticket has been raised.

I'm just waiting now for it to be fixed, as the issue is still there.

Steve is good like that, and usually will let you know if he finds a solution. Keep us updated here, if you can, and if they manage to share with you WHY, that would also be interesting to know!

Hey Andy,
Fired you a PM yesterday afternoon as well :) Our network team did some work and believes it should be working now (just need you to give it a try).

Thanks!

See Andy - yet another case of just getting the right guy (Steve) the info and turning him loose in "problem solving mode" ... ;-)

Now if only we could clone Steve and place him in more Fongo departments ...

Totally agree, although I'm not sure how Steve would feel about that :)

Happy to report that all is working well again.

As long as each clone got paid, I think he would be OK with it ... however, Mrs. Steve may be another story altogether! ;-)
