When you click "Request Certification" you are put in a call queue, quite a few people in there... You can try calling in though.

The thing you downloaded is in fact a software phone, that is tied to our server and you login using your email & password which I assume you have already done.

You must open UDP Ports 5060 to 6061 (range of ports), as well as 13000 and 13001 (only those two) in order to let the data traffic through.

The number and the software phone are 100% free yes, anything additional you would like you may purchase.

Certification does nothing to affect your connectivity. It is most likely a port / firewall issue.

Well, someone needs to phone you, it isn't instant.

Seems like your number is in fact active. Make sure UDP ports 13,000 and 13,001 as well as 5060 to 6061 are all open on your router. Allow FreePhoneLine.exe in Windows, or any other third party anti-virus / firewall you have (I would seriously consider uninstalling McAfee or Norton if you have it and get AVG, or Avast - Both Free) also make sure in the same spot you add Exceptions for PROGRAMS in Windows Firewall, you "Add Port", make sure you add 13,000 and 13,001 -- Name does not matter, you do not need to add 5060 to 6061 to Windows Firewall ports.

thx for the reply sir

ok first of all i want to say is that i dint knew that you dont need to get certifcate for normal use, i thought it was the proceedure and dint knew if its for only if u need 911, so i dont need 911 services and would like not to get a certificate on this

as for port thingy, i forwadred 5060-6061 and also 13000-13001 on my modem n router and also closed firewall for checking, Still it dint work
i have avg installed only , no other AV
i even tired re enabling firewall and adding udp ports still the same, but i do think 5060 port is blocked from my isp and i cant bypass it

You can change the operating port of our software phone. As for the config details, you would need to buy our config file ($50).

Your details stay pretty much the same apart from the password. The main difference is the 'unlock' your account so you can use other equipment other than the softphone. They have to make money somehow, and a $50 admin fee is very reasonable IMO. I have my account (as well as others) running through a 3CX PBX and it works very well. It is saving me $44 each month from Bell, and more of Canada is now 'local' for me to call for free. Now if they would just expand down to Victoria BC that would make my better half's family happy.

I can understand your hesitation to pay the fee if you can't get it working on the softphone however. The tech support does seem pretty good, so I hope you manage to get things sorted.

Well I can tell you I've been in and out of the loop lately Jake, and as far as I can see your better half will be quite happy quite soon ;)

We are talking a lot about Freephoneline "Exploding" in the future with a whole lot of new stuff regarding media partners etc, which I won't give any details on. But which will make it easier to buy massive batches of numbers for you folks wanting to give your families numbers local to you so you may call back and forth free!

We've added 7 new areas and are expanding our CLEC out as far as we can.

Uzair, how long did you use the VPN with the softphone for? Traffic my just have be blocked by the network admins of that VPN.

When it comes to calling the USA, you'll have to look into one of our long distance plans. We will soon have pay as you go long distance available too, but it isn't quite ready for release yet. Due to the termination fees when calling out of country, I doubt you'd find a free provider :)

We don't need to do that since it's all active, you would need to do it in your router.

Yes calling cards would work.

What is the IP address of the computer you are using? You can NOT forward SAME ports to TWO different destinations!
Connect the computer directly to your rogers modem, get the PUBLIC IP address and try FPL. If it works, it's your router.

I have FPL softphone working fine behind DOUBLE NAT. No port forwarding needed at all.

You must open UDP Ports 5060 to 6061 (range of ports), as well as 13000 and 13001 (only those two) in order to let the data traffic through.
admin said that you must open these ports on your router.
the 5060 and 5061 port is to be used if you are using an ATA device
and the other ports 13000 and 13001 if you are going to use the soft phone which i beleive that what you are doing.
so look and open these ports and try again
