Odd errors new numbers!

Post by TheHardy »

Signed up a co-worker for DV, and was assigned a new (778-776-xxxx) number for Vancouver, BC.

2 things come up ...

778-776 is tariffed incorrectly as $0.02/min (+ connection fee) -- when of course, it is a FREE call (Hey Mike -- 'Fongo-Fongo calls are ALWAYS free...')

And, when calling 778-776 (from a phone that does not pooch out as it is not yet recognizing it as a valid exchange), you get an error that repeats "Your balance is insufficient to plaec a call to that destination" --- rather than ringing the #!!!! Why would someone CALLING TO a Fongo # be getting that recording?? Weird, truly odd!

Please get someone to investigate this! :-)

More testing more errors

Post by TheHardy »

So, in regards to the new DV account I set up, I was assigned a 778-776 # ...

As Fongo has a tariff error where 778-776 is a chargeable call @ $0.02/min (when it should be free...), I cannot test from my FPL account.

Calling my DV # from TELUS MiKE, Telus landline, FIDO mobile, Rogers landline (formerly AT&T) all yeild: "YOUR ACCOUNT BALANCE IS INSUFFICIENT TO PLACE YOUR CALL TO THIS DESTINATION" message -- no voicemail, no ring, no nothing. My callers get THAT message ...

This is ODD, because it _IS_ the FONGO message that usually plays from the computer app when I try to call out to a chargeable # ...

Could this be because 778-776 is mistariffed as a chargeable call?? And it is a Fibernetics NETWORK intercept message??

Would really appreciate someone looking into this!

Thanks!

That's a nice exchange number. It leads to quite a few 'pretty' numbers. 778-776 -| 7788 | 7766 | 7744 | 7786 | 7777 |

Did you get a good one?

Didn't have too many chances at it, but I got something decent enough ... not as cool as my main # tho (xxx-z00-yz00) ... I don't know all the "tricks" to be able to set up a "cool" # ...

RESOLVED

Post by TheHardy »

As of last afternoon, calls to my 778-776 number are now working correctly, without the error intercept message. A quick check of the rate lookup tool also shows that the calls is now $0.00 -- I am almost sure that these two things are related. In any case, BOTH issues were resolved -- not sure 100% that they are linked, but evidence (THE intercept message & the toll charge!) seem to indicate they may be ... Of course, if I knew how Fongo handles the calls, or if someone from Fongo (Mike/Steve) confirms, then we will know for sure! :-)
