problem about international call

Hello
This morning I bought $5 international call credit.
I tried several times to make a call to China.
But it always remined "failed".
I use desktop .It is normal to call a Toronto number.
please give me some idea.

I've never used the desktop software but assume it still requires a dial string to be configured.

Check your dial string to ensure you have the proper settings for international dialing.
Long Distance in North America follow the 1xxxxxxxxxx pattern however Toronto is inside the free calling cities for FPL.

Try another Long distance number in North America outside the free calling cities (http://www.freephoneline.ca/cityListing) and see what happens.

the 011 pattern is used for International calling. Try another Int'l # to see if its successful.

For the desktop app, not a dial string per se, but as you said, you do have to format the number correctly, including the 011 for international.

Other people have reported problems calling overseas, specifically CHINA --- sometimes, if the ringing pattern is a very odd one, the Fongo-system can read it as FAILED (ie: if it has any weird ring pattern that may resemble the fast-busy/out-of-order signal that we have here in North America); to that end, I have observed that the Fongo-system is not very robust in dealing with non-standard ringing patterns, even having encountered problems domestically (locally even) when calling things like TTY/TDD machines, or certain small office PBX's that generate non-standard ringing "noises" ....
