Moved to new place...do I just plug in hardware and go?
Do I need to run some kind of setup procedure again or can I just plug all the hardware in and it will run?

In theory yes, it should be just a case of plugging things in and it should work just as it was.X-Nemesis wrote:Do I need to run some kind of setup procedure again or can I just plug all the hardware in and it will run?
If your router/modem has changed then you might need to change some settings regards to port forwarding, but generally you should be fine with just plugging it in and off you go. There is not any setup procedures that you need to do.

Jake has summed it up really well ... as long as you don't need to get a new number for your new area (did you change areas?) -- that process is not too friendly yet and requires spending more money to purchase another config file ...

But to use the same # and setup, more or less plug and play, as Jake stated.

Be sure to login to our website and update your address information as well - this is a crucial step so 911 operators have your current location on file.

update 911 info
Good point Steve. Question: if I use the pc app mainly at home, but take it with me on the road when I am out of town staying at hotels for not more than 2 days at a time, and NOT planning on using the FPL service for 911 calls, I am not _OBLIGATED_ to update my information, am I? Just checking, as I remember the TOS as requiring accurate information.
I would think that as temporary addresses/locations without need for 911 outdial, it would be "permissable" to not update the info?

In short, during the registration process each user must agree to the e911 Terms before they can proceed and complete the registration. The e911 terms do state that the user is responsible for keeping the address on file of the location they are using the service at.TheHardy wrote:Good point Steve. When it comes down to it, nobody can ever plan on needing to dial 911, so a little time spent updating the address can go a long way in an emergency.

Re: update 911 info
Fair that -- responsible vs OBLIGATED --- as I stated in my example, if I am taking my laptop with the PC app to a HOTEL out of town, and using the PC app/laptop to make and receive FREE calls (avoiding hotel long distance) and the going to another hotel the next night, there is not much point in updating the e911 info --- if I have an issue in the hotel, I would be using the landline which would spit out proper 911 info anyways ...FONGO_steve wrote: In short, during the registration process each user must agree to the e911 Terms before they can proceed and complete the registration. That was my only query on that ... and I suppose it would be hard to know if I was actually in violation of the TOS unless someone started back-matching IP addresses. Of course if I am staying for a few days at ONE place, it would make sense to update the e911 info ... nightly though, in a hotel, seems somewhat more difficult.
Query too, as I do not have the SMARTPHONE app --- obviously the e911 info for that would be pretty useless if the user is mobile .... ???

The router and modem changed. I'm running wirelessly off my Uncle's dsl setup. So I need to find out what hardware he has first then?

Plug the ATA in, and see what happens. Most likely, it will just work. If it does not, you will have to configure your uncles modem/router so as to get the right ports forwarded to the ATA.

Re: Moved to new place...do I just plug in hardware and go?
As per Bridonca, worst that can happen is "nothing works" ... best case, it all works, just like before! Depending on Uncle's setup, you may need tweaking. If he is not already using VOIP, his router may not have QoS or may not do VOIP very well ... only one way to find out though ...
Technically you should be able to make a go of it, how well it works may be questionable depending on setup and hardware involved. Don't expect it to be a flawless plug and play, but you may be surprised.
