Unable to make a long distance call

Post by pp1111 »

I've bought the credit for making long distance call but when I place a call like 011 XXX XXXX XXXX
A recording say your call cannot complete as dial.

I'm using a Linksys SPA2012 adapter, it seems like it will only count up to 10 digits.
Could that be anything related to my adapter setting? Dial Plan String setting?

Many many thanks inadvance

Sounds like a dialstring issue if it is timing out after the first 10D's ... do a quick SEARCH on here for your adapter, or just hunt thru the dialstring section for some info that may prove useful for you!

What is your current dialplan? Prehaps adding |011xxxxxxxxxxx| into your dialplan will cure the problem for now..... give it a try.

I could be wrong, but isn't that message from FPL side of things? If so, wouldn't that mean the call got passed the dial string (unless of course a substitution part of the dial string came into effect).

Can you give more details about the number you called (country, area), it might help somehow. Just leave out the last 3 number or so.

Hello pp1111,

There could be various reasons why certain long distance calls may not be going through, the most important one being your dial plan. I would recommend that you log into your Freephoneline account online at http://www.freephoneline.ca. Click on Account login and after putting your email address and password associated with freephonline - scroll down and than click on settings. Once on settings click on SIP Settings on the far right hand side, scroll down and it should show you the Dial string necessary for Freephoneline to work properly on Linksys devices.

Make sure you copy that dial string, log into your SPA 2012 and paste it in the dial string settings area of your ATA device. Save your settings and reboot your ATA device.

Please let me know if that worked for you by replying to this thread.
