Using *72 to Forward Calls
Hello again ...
I've got a Grandstream HT286. In the manual, it says that you can forward your calls by pressing *72. I've tried this and it does not work. Is there something that I have missed? I know that you can use the "Follow Me" function, but thought it would be easier using *72.
Is there another ATA that will forward your calls by simply dialing *72 or another number, if this does not work with the HT286?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
The 286 does offer basic call forward

and I did test it once (not something that I use). It is probably not what you are looking for as it will forward to another number but I don't think Fongo will allow that as it would be making two calls at the same time.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
IIRC from Primus TBB years, if we wanted to use the star codes to call forward/follow me, we have to disable the call forward settings in the Account portal. Then we can enable and (must) disable the feature using the star codes. IDK if it works with FPL. I can not test it for you since I'm in the office right now, but will test it when I get a chance at home.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
No, it does not work (on my PAP2T-NA) and it makes sense because allowing it could lead to a circumvention of FPL's policy of not allowing any 2 FPL numbers forwarded to a single phone number!
Sorry!
Now, back to usual weekend retiring!

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
That is what is to be expected.. When I tested it I could transfer for another a call to another sip address or number on the same service that I was logged into but Fongo do not encourage this sort of activity although transfer to another sip address (not Fongo) may work. I would test it with Fongo if I could.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
On the user 1 tab, can't just add in a forwarding number there? I have a PBX set up now so I can't test just the ATA directly to FPL.cu2o2o2 wrote:No, it does not work (on my PAP2T-NA) and it makes sense because allowing it could lead to a circumvention of FPL's policy of not allowing any 2 FPL numbers forwarded to a single phone number!
The only thing stopping you from forwarding more numbers to the same number is their online form. Adding in a number here should negate that.
With my PBX I can do pretty much whatever, but that is a different ball game.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
Yes, you can add a forwarding number in User tab, but as we have discussed before, if you put a number in the Forward All Calls, all your calls will be sent directly to your voicemail.Jake wrote:On the user 1 tab, can't just add in a forwarding number there? If you put a number in the Selective Call Forward, those callers will also be sent to voicemail. I currently use the Selective Call Forward to "filter" telescammers (I can put more than 10 numbers in each box). We have a thread here somewhere but am too lazy ATM to find it.

I believe the OP intended the *72 as convenience feature such that he won't need to log in to his online account in order to update/modify his call forward settings.
Yes you are correct with the PBX, I should know...I was using PIAF until my server crashed last December.

Re: Using *72 to Forward Calls
From what I read and understand ... *72 or even using call forward in the User tab of the ATA is not going to work. The ONLY option I have then is to keep using the "Follow Me" option provided on the user menu of Fongo/Freephoneline.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!!!!
