help with my call display (only saying incoming call)

Post by bf7041 »

My call display no longer seems to work properly - seemed to start 1 or 2 days ago.

When someone calls the display will light up with their information BUT the phone does not ring. After a few seconds the phone begins to ring but the display changes to say "incoming call" (no other information). So when I hear the phone ring the dsiplay only says incoming call and I don't know who it is. After the call, if I scroll through the caller id menu the name will be there.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you give us some details....

Are you using the softphone or an ATA? And which one? FPL softphone has this issue, Budphone and DV do not.

If you are using an ATA, we would need to know which one ... router information, and how your network is set up too ...

Any other details that you could provide would also help us to help you ...

(and I am not sure that we can believe the info under your user profile, so that is why I am asking...)

It's probably your router...are you linked to the bank? You see, banks want to keep their transactions confidential!

Seriously, what is the brand of your router...is it a TP-Link...what model is it? You may want to correct your profile).

You should start by updating your PAP2T firmware to 5.1.6 then check if the problem persists.

Keep us posted!

hard to help without enough details

Post by TheHardy »

Going back to the original issue, it is hard to offer *real* help without enough specific information ...

Hey bf7041,

There are certain steps you can try to make sure your caller ID is working.

1) Every ATA device has an option to enable/disable your Caller ID within the ATA settings. You didn't post what type of ATA your using so I cant really tell you how you can access those settings.
2) Have you tried rebooting both your ATA device as well as your Router?
3) Just for testing purposes can you also try a different phone.

Lack of information for required support

Post by TheHardy »

Hi Harris -- welcome into the fray! :-) Wrong thread for that ... but....

I did post prior asking for some specifics so that we could try to offer some help, but the OP has not been forthcoming with any of the details. Maybe the cool green user name reply will spur some action on this -- otherwise, I think we can close the book on it as "aborted due to lack of actionable information".

I support that idea...

Close it after 5 days from OP's last post? :P ...more or less?

Staledate it and ignore if no info given

+3 ...

It is tiring to try to help someone, and they never get back to you with the information that YOU need to help THEM ... I usually just let it die a natural death after that ... if they can't be bothered to help me help them, I can't be bothered either ... ;)

I once had same problem with linksys PAP2 ATA, but FPL specialists didn't respond me. However, after google search, it seems I solved the problem.

Just change ring frequency to 20, and the problem was solved for me. Basically the problem is not related to FPL system.

Too High ring frequency is misread by telephone as signal noise.

Good luck.
