Please Help: VoIP phone not working
I use Linskys PAP2T-NA. My phone has been not working since last Thursday. There is no dial tone, and the phone light on the ATA is not on. I took my phone to a neighbor's house to test and found the phone is fine. My internet connection is good too. Is the ATA down? Can I fix it? Thanks

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
Have you tried rebooting both the router and the ATA, in that order? Power them both down, give it about 2 mins, power up the router, wait 30 secs, power up the ATA. See if this resolves your issues. Failing that, we will need to know some more information about your particular setup to assist you in troubleshooting it.

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
Perform suggestions in previous post...and your phone should be good...(even only for a limited period).
If the phone light is not on, it simply means that it can not register to the FPL server, assuming that you don't see a RED light.
Since you have not provided enough info about your setup, I can only guess that your router is not set up properly for SIP VOIP.
-Does your router support SIP ALG? Is it disabled or enabled?
-Did you change the default SIP and RTP ports of your PAP2T-NA?
-Did you forward the SIP and RTP ports (that your PAP2T is configured to use) to your router?
-Did you assign a static address/DHCP reservation to your PAP2T in conjunction with your router's port forwarding?
-Are you sure that your router is compatible with SIP VOIP?
Get back to us with your answers and somebody will be able to give you concrete answers!

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
I tried rebooting the router and the ATA, but it didn't help. The Phone LED ond the ATD is not lit, and there is not dial tone on the phone. I tried pressing ****110#, but the phone is dead.TheHardy wrote:Have you tried rebooting both the router and the ATA, in that order? Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
Thanks! The phone had been working very well for over 3 months before last Thursday. It was suddenly down. I didn't change any setting. So I guess the issue came from the ATA.cu2o2o2 wrote:Perform suggestions in previous post...and your phone should be good...(even only for a limited period).

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
Unfortunately, you did not come up with answers to the questions above hence we can not tell you where the issue is. You see, a properly set up VOIP gear works not just for well over 3 months, rather it works from day 1, like mine, until interrupted by outside factors (e.g. VOIP server).cantonlin08 wrote:Thanks! Can you get into ATA web interface? That's first place to check.

No, I can't hear anything after I press ****110#, so I can't determine the IP address and get in ATA web interface.CSCO wrote:Can you get into ATA web interface? That's first place to check.

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
As per above, if the simple reboot in the right order did not do the trick, then it typically won't be a server-side (Fongo) issue, but rather a user side one.
This means that either a hardware or software setting somewhere has changed, or was previously misconfigured, or that your hardware might have just died an unglorious death.
Also as per above, those of us here trying to assist you have asked for some SPECIFIC information, without which we can do no more than suggest a reboot and a careful check of your settings --- if you take the time to read our replies and supply the information requested, we might be able to offer further assistance!!

Re: Please Help: VoIP phone not working
This is what I would do. First unplug the PAP2 from the electricity supply. Disconnect the output of the power brick from ATA. Check the specifications of the brick Volts/Amps/Watts and the maker model number and report here. Measure the voltage output from the supply with a test meter. Unplug the power brick from the electricity and take the PAP2 and disconnect it from everything then plug the DC output from the power brick and then the brick into the electricity and the green power light should come on and be stable and the network connection light next to it should begin to flash from time to time. Then plug the network cable into the ATA and the network light should go green (at once) and stay on. Soon after, the ATA should show green on the line 1 and line 2 (if used).
