Hi,

I am a new user and have a few questions. Hope I am posting in the right area.

I have two phone numbers that I plan to port to freephoneline. So I have created two accounts with new numbers (for now) and installed the application on two different computers. I logged in with the account #1 on the computer #1 and account #2 on the computer #2. Both computers are behind the router.

So, Q1:
How to I set up NAT for my configuration. I know I am supposed to forward ports 13000, 13001, 5060, 5061, 6060 and 6061, but...I have 2 computers? Do I forward 13000, 5060 and 6060 to the computer #1 and 13001, 5061 and 6061 to the computer #2? Not sure I understand.

Q2:
In the future I will move to an ATA. Once I receive the settings, will I be able to configure a single ATA for two numbers? I have a Linksys ATA that currently handles these numbers (via a provider I am moving away from). Line 1 is number #1, line 2 is number #2. Is such config supported?

I believe you are on the right track ...
If you currently have a working set up, albeit from another provider, it is worth writing it DOWN, so that you have that as a future reference in case something goes wrong, or you tweak a wrong setting.

There are a few "tutorials" and several working configs floating around in the appropriate sections of the forum, as well as several knowledgeable people that will surely chime in.

It will probably help to tell us WHAT Linksys ATA you have, as well as the router that the setup is currently behind ... models and firmware revs please!

Linksys SPA2102.

I don't believe I can access it...it's provisioned in such a way that there a customer (aka me) has no access to Web. I tried it once, I think I had to reset it. As of now I am not there yet anyways. I just needed to know that such config is ok with freephoneline. I spoke to a customer rep yesterday about buying a pre-provisioned ATA and was told it has to be one ATA per number/account. Not sure about the nature of the limitation. If I can use provisioning from freephoneline to set up an ATA for both #s I am good to move ahead and ask for number porting.

The reason that the rep told you that about the pre-provisioned ones is that they are only single line units that they deal with -- which is why you would need one per.

If you are going your own route, then I would suggest that perhaps you take a look at the forum section where working configs of the SPA2102 are listed, and see if there is a member there that can answer your question! What you are after may already have been answered though.

A google search too on SPA2102 two voip accounts setup may yield you some information too, from OTHER forums.

Chances are, if there is a working set up out there for this router, THOSE settings can be adapted to work with the Fongo settings. Firmware notwithstanding, firewalls and router issues ignored, of course! ;-) So many variables, but if the HARDWARE handles it, I don't see why the settings can't be matched up and made to fly!

If you have a two line ATA and can configure it (not lock and admin access) then both lines will work if router and ATA are properly configured ..... unless Fongo blocks two account logging in from the same public IP. I do not have a 2 line ATA but have (at times) run 5 or more SIP devices on the same internal network. The most likely problem is no sound (in out or both) and phones that ring but you cannot answer or you can hear the called but they cannot hear you.

This was my thinking also.

As for the Fongo side of things WRT IP addresses, I can confirm, that as I am on wireless data (WIND), their network is KNOWN to only present _4_ confirmed distinct IP addresses systemwide due to how they route their traffic --- as odd as that sounds.

I am FAIRLY sure that I am not their only customer that uses Fongo services, so I would feel fairly certain of going out on a limb and saying that the service is not blocked based on IP address alone (I may be wrong).

However, there may be something WRT two accounts on the same MAC address which may crop up.

I think that the safest way to proceed would be to PM Steve or Mike, unless a Fongo rep weighs in on this thread first.

Get the clarification up-front as to any system limitation that my be imposed from a provider side in this matter ...

I thought that it did, and that there were some people that had that set up. Thanks for confirming it for us!

Were there an tricks or pitfalls that you remember you had to do to get it working correctly, or was it pretty straight foward??
